Since my adolescence, I collect books. Sometimes I have to "CLEAN" my library as one does to a garden...
When I was in Ottawa (circa 1984), I had a lot of books that I didn't want anymore and that didn't really have any value. I had a fireplace in my apartment and I thought it would make good firewood, especially since paper is made from wood... Well that's when I discovered that books don't burn easily and never in a home fireplace. The fire burns the sides of the book slightly, blackening them, but the fire goes out... You need a big fire, and an intense heat like an outdoor fire.
To read on the subject the book: Fahrenheit 451.
