The outgoing premier and reigning champion of the Quebec National Assembly, François Legault, totally dominated his opponents during the first television debate between the five party leaders running in the October 3, 2022 election.
The four opponents did not target their criticisms on the champion as a group, but rather on each other in order to probably try to identify themselves as the dominant alternative to the outgoing premier. As a result, each of the aspiring opponents was solidly attacked by his opponents, and François Legault could simply watch with some pleasure as his opponents destroyed each other. He was rested and strong when they tried to attack him, and he even took the liberty of solidly attacking each of his opponents in turn!
Host Pierre Bruneau seemed to enjoy refereeing this kind of melee style fight, and he was a good referee, even if it was obvious that he was personally sympathetic to the champion...
The second and final debate will be presented on Radio-Canada on September 22.
