One could say that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is the champion of Canadian politics… Indeed, all three of his candidates won their respective by-elections held on Monday, April 13, 2026. Mark’s candidates came out on top…
The most captivating race, however, was the one in the riding of Terrebonne. In the end, Liberal candidate Tatiana Auguste received 22,445 votes against Bloc candidate Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné, who received 21,714 votes—a difference of 731 votes. Tatiana Auguste was born in 2001 (age 25) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and had her first election declared invalid by the Supreme Court of Canada. In the April 2025 election, she tied with the incumbent MP Nathalie Sinclair-Desgagné, only to be declared the winner by a single vote following errors by Elections Canada—a result ultimately overturned by the Supreme Court.
Mark Carney was determined to win the re-run election to send a strong signal of his political superiority. He now holds a majority in the Canadian Parliament with 174 MPs.
