ICE HOCKEY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

HOCKEY AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-
By Bernard Bujold -
In a few years, robots will be able to compete with the best human athletes. In basketball, robots are already superior to humans. A robot makes a basket every time it shoots the ball, whereas a human misses a significant number of shots or hits the rim. In running events, such as marathons, a robot is faster than a human runner. In ice hockey, the problem with robots lies in balance, but when it comes to predicting the game and directing the puck, the robot is superior. A solution—likely involving magnets—will need to be found to keep the robot’s body stable on the ice. It is said that the Japanese are working on the project...
In the meantime, the Canadiens seem to have the wind in their sails, perhaps, heading toward the 2026 Stanley Cup... To be continued!
