In the wake of the disclosure of the content of the charges against former U.S. President Donald Trump, most legal experts are of the opinion that the case is particularly weak.
However, with the trial taking place in January 2024, just months before the next U.S. presidential election, which will be held on November 5, 2024, such a legal event against one of the two candidates will further divide U.S. citizens, who are already polarized into two very distinct groups.
As far as the Republican Party is concerned, however, it has never been so united behind a single candidate and support for Donald Trump is now approaching 60%. Even deep opponents like Jeb Bush have criticized the accusations against Trump, while potential opponents in the race are also of the same opinion, including Ron DeSantis.
