The entire territory of Old Montreal was occupied from Friday, August 13 to Sunday, August 15 by the holding of a so-called international sporting event, the World Triathlon Championship Montreal 2021. All automobile and pedestrian traffic was paralyzed by metal barriers and street closures during the day.
If for the athletes, the happiness was in the competition, for the residents of the neighborhood the great joy was Sunday evening when the barriers were dismantled by maintenance workers.
It is even said that one resident brought lemonade to refresh the workers assigned to remove the fences...
As the famous saying goes, "The best part of having a visitor is when they leave..."
