HALLOWEEN 2022-

About 3000 years ago, the Celtic calendar did not end on December 31st, but on October 31st. And this last night of the year was also the night of the god of death. Legend has it that the ghosts of the dead used the Celtic New Year to visit the living. To prevent the ghosts from haunting them, the Celts dressed in terrifying costumes to scare the ghosts on the evening of October 31. It was Irish immigrants who brought the Halloween tradition to the United States! 

Ulysses and I are not afraid of the dead, but we did come across the pumpkin monster and chased it away.The brave Ulysses managed to get the monster away from the residence and back into the forest!

Have a nice last weekend of October 2022, whether you stayed in Quebec where the temperature will average 15 Celsius (59F); or in Florida with a 30 Celsius (86F)...

Elon Musk signed the purchase of Twitter on Thursday evening, October 27, and his first move was to fire the company's top executives... Musk promised to transform Twitter and make it a tool for debating ideas. 

I've always liked Elon Musk's style. We have one thing in common, we were both born on June 28th, and we both like to go to the gym... 

Good luck Elon and long live Twitter!

URBAN LIFE IN AUTUMN...

Ulysse and I are very urban in our behavior and when we go to the city, we are focused in our bubble and do not look at the people around us as if we were in our living room. What a surprise it was to be approached by a beautiful looking woman while we were at the Apple store... The lady greeted me, but I really didn't know who she was until she identified herself. She was the spouse of a former boss that I had not seen in at least 25 years. 

I'm always surprised that some people can recognize people when they pass them in town, even after many years of not seeing them again. Unfortunately, this is not the case for me or for Ulysse...

I often dream in my sleep about my former lovers! Last night, I dreamed of one of my former suitors. I wanted to tell her a secret and our lips brushed together as I told her the secret in a low voice. We almost kissed, but a kind of shyness prevented me from doing so... 
The existential question that is on my mind this morning: "What if in life, it is shyness and fear that deprive us of new discoveries and happiness? An existential question, because my dream is over and I am wide awake!

Ulysses and I are looking forward to November 8th with great anticipation. Either it will be our total happiness with a remarkable Republican Party victory in the Senate and Congress, or it will be distress.... 

A Republican victory will also mean a return of our idol Donald Trump in 2024 for the US presidential election (Tuesday, November 5, 2024).

MITSOU GÉLINAS AND HER TWO SISTERS...

 MITSOU GELINAS AND HER TWO SISTERS -

There was a time between 1990 and 2010, in one of my former lives, when I used to frequent Quebec artists (television, song and music, visual and literary art, etc.). 
One of the artists in my circle was Mitsou Gélinas, an artist I loved very much and of whom I keep wonderful memories of the many anecdotes lived with her and her entourage, in particular her record producer, her manager, and her mother with her friend the Italian Alda... 
Mitsou has a very beautiful soul, one of the most beautiful I have known in my life, and you can discover a great part of it by reading the book she has just published with her two sisters: Abeille and Noémie: Bien-être inspiré - Trouver l'harmonie Corps Coeur Esprit! 
The book is a kind of autobiography of the three sisters, each of whom has written reflections on their lives. The style is different from a conventional autobiography, but the Gélinas sisters are anything but conventional... 

I read the book and I loved it... A book to read! 

Bravo to Mitsou and her sisters, and a good read to you all! 

They say that this weekend (October 21, 2022) will be beautiful. Ulysse and I are going to enjoy the garden, before the winter...

THE PLEASURE OF READING IN 2022 -

I have always loved reading and going to bookstores. At one time, I used to go two or three times a week to my favorite bookstore (INDIGO) and I loved to consult the thousands of books on the shelves. 

In 2022, this pleasure does not exist anymore... 

Indeed, if in the 2000s, a merchant like INDIGO offered 90% of books and 10% of other products, in 2022 the equation is reversed and it is 90% of decoration products against 10% of books! We offer candles, glassware, home decoration items and even the legendary Italian cakes PANETTONE... 

To enjoy books, it has become essential to go through the Internet and order online. The good thing is that the reading is delivered to your home, but the days of going out reading are over.
