by Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
There are a total of 12 candidates who are competing for the seat of Mayor of Montreal which will be given at the election of November 3, 2013. Several debates between the four leading candidates were organized like the one by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal (Monday, October 21). To take a look at the four leaders, here is a photographic portrait of the evening at the Board of Trade starring: Mélanie Joly, Denis Coderre, Marcel Côté and Richard Bergeron. And may the best man or woman win!

EXHIBITION CHIHULY - MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

By Bernard Bujold LeStudio1.com) -
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts presents until Sunday, October 27, 2013 the exhibition CHIHULY. This presentation is historical and really unique! The play of light with glass is exceptional and this event is probably the most extraordinary presented by the Museum of Fine Arts.
A must-see event!

ELECTION MONTREAL 2013 - THE FINAL RUN

By Bernard Bujold ( LeStudio1.com ) -
The candidate Mélanie Joly has momentum and, in politics as in sport, it is essential!
According to the survey by Radio-Canada conducted between 11 and 15 October 2013, the classification of the four leading candidates is as follows:
Denis Coderre 41%
Mélanie Joly 24%
Richard Bergeron 21%
Marcel Côté 11%.
Mélanie Joly does not seem to make the mistakes of those who had the momentum in the past as a Mario Dumont, who would have become Prime Minister in 2007 if he had not sent some of his close people from his entourage packing saying that he was the boss...
Jacques Duchesneau did almost the same thing in his campaign for mayor in 1998.
Invitation by Melanie to Marcel Côté to join her party was smart even if he refused because we can predict that Côté will not be elected mayor, but the majority of its candidate will be. And by inviting Côté, Melanie shows that she will be able to work with others who are not of her party. In addition, several candidates of Côté begin to be disappointed with their leader but they can not leave the boat a few days before the election...
Regarding the case Bibiane Bovet, Melanie quickly responded to the AMF inquiry in rejecting her candidacy and none of the opponents will be able use the angle of former escort which quickly became anecdote. In all other parties there are several candidates unconventional as people bankrupt , gays , actors, old , young and even a candidate at City Hall ( Michel Brûlé ) has already stated plainly have used escorts in his past . Moreover , I even received a few messages telling me that a candidate ( Bibiane Bovet ) ex-prostitutes was a breath of fresh air and it would be good for the defense of their rights. So rather than detract from Mélanie Joly, the presence of the candidate brought her new support but the AMF investigation was something else.
The debate at Tout le Monde en Parle has not confirmed a winner as each candidate hold their ideas but the format of pre-registration of the tv programm does not connect with the news. The debate at the Chamber of Commerce and broadcast live on RDI ( 5:30 pm Monday, October 21 ) should better define the final race.
The mayoral race is like a horse racing and the horses are in the last right before the finish line... Stay tuned!

ELECTION 2013 MONTREAL - A race of 12 horses ...

By Bernard Bujold ( LeStudio1.com ) -
A mayoral race with 12 candidates is like horse racing and it is often a surprise winning horse at the finish line. This is what will probably happen in the election at the City of Montreal and the surprise horse seems to be Melanie Joly (16% surveyed ) that may to become the Official Opposition leader behind the leader at polls, Denis Coderre (39% surveyed ) who could become a minority mayor.
If there is a conclusion is that awareness is a key element in the Montreal election campaign in 2013 and it is what hurt a candidate like Marcel Côté ( 17% surveyed ).
The first opinion poll (7 October 2013) clearly demonstrates : more a candidate is known , the more people say they will vote for him. (see link below Leger & Quebecor Media)
We also note clearly that several star candidates in various districts of Greater Montreal may win their seat precisely because they are known personalities, either in journalism or in the arts. This is the case of a candidate like Galia Vaillancourt who is running as an counsellor in the Mile End district of Plateau Mont- Royal. The program and policy intentions of Galia are very interesting and her environmental management skills allow her to very well understand the municipal management of the Plateau Mont- Royal but, for many as myself who knows her personally, it is the fact she is the daughter of renowned sculptor Armand Vaillancourt which holds my interest for her candidacy. One can even speculate that if Armand had run for the town hall mayor seat, he would have led a tough battle to the leading candidates as he is a artist well known especially with a reputation as a campaigner for the freedom of individuals .
We'll see later, but the mayoral race is well underway and all seems to unfold like a race Kentucky Derby...
The finish line for the next mayor of Montreal will be the day of the vote on Sunday, November 3.
Stay tuned!

ELECTION 2013 MONTREAL

by Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
Any application for municipal election must be filed with the Office of the Presiding Officer before Friday, October 4, 2013 at 4: 30 p.m..
In all, 103 positions available including the mayor of the city for which 11 candidates are running (4 however dominate the race)...
It is highly likely that a large division of votes will happen for the position of Mayor and the winner will have very little or no majority.
At the level of candidates for the office of councilor, hundreds of stars (and less stars) are running. Several ex-journalists like Philippe Schnobb who runs in the Saint Jacques district and there are also several artists or children of famous artists like Galia Vaillancourt, daughter of sculptor Armand Vaillancourt, who is running in the Mile End district of Plateau Mont-Royal. The decisive vote will be held Sunday 3 November.
"May the best men and women win!"
And as they say at the Casino: "Place your bets."
To be continued...
