LE PARTI QUÉBÉCOIS AND PIERRE KARL PÉLADEAU

Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The survey of voting intentions published yesterday by LE DEVOIR might not have pleased Pierre-Karl Peladeau because all the answers to questions, whether on the popularity of the leader or political party or the vote in a referendum or a general election, it is Philippe Couillard who is the unanimous winner in all age groups and regardless of the native language of french or English.
If someone wanted to take bet, it would be wise to play on the prediction that PKP will not stand for the leadership of the Parti Québécois and he will rather go back in the gardens of Quebecor especially since even inside his party, there seems to be much opposition if not adversaries-enemies!
One thing is clear and inescapable: PKP never play the number 2 and he certainly will not be a second one to Lisée, Drainville or other leader of the Parti Québécois. He will be the chief or it's will be another life out there for PKP.
To be continued...

The story of how Steve Ballmer bought the basketball team THE CLIPPERS for $ 2 billion is like a television series.

He was the new owner of a professional sports team and his 2 billion were spent! It's a bit like a child who buys a new toy in exchange for a large part of his savings. The question that then arises: Do I made a good decision...
(Ballmer's fortune was estimated before buying Clippers to over $ 22 billion)

Quebec tennis champion Eugenie Bouchard is the star of all New York this Sunday as she made the cover of the magazine inserted in The New York Times newspaper. However, this honor has a very high risk, as the magazine said it much in evidence in its subtitle: "Genie may be the future world grand champion in women's tennis if, she wins!"
Otherwise, well the glory will go to another one and it will be humiliation for Bouchard on who several place high hopes, especially in marketing...

MONTREAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL 2014 - OFFICIAL OPENING NIGHT IS A SUCCESS...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The opening night of the MONTREAL WORLD FILM FESTIVAL 2014 showed that the Imperial Theatre is a great place to host large events and the famous red carpet wins the presence of the street right in front of the entrance, allowing guests of honor to arrive in a limousine. If there is a further finding is that the media communications suffers no change of guard. The new director of communications, Lison Lescarbeau, is very effective and even the better one to hold that position for several years. Another surprise and discovery by the founder Serge Losique...
The WFF 2014 is on from August 21 to September 1st.

SALAUD, ON T'AIME - A STORY ABOUT SUICIDE...

Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The opening film at the Montreal World Film Festival 2014, SALAUD, ON T'AIME directed by Claude Lelouch and starring Johnny Hallyday have a key topic: suicide.
The film is inspired by the story of war photographer that has been Lelouch in the 50s and it is a sort of family chronicle that revolves around a prominent and rich war photographer. After moving in a beautiful residence in the Alps, the photographer maintains the fantasy to gather around him his four daughters but suicide himself when he learn that he is fatally hill.
According Lelouch, who met the Montreal media to explain his film, those who commit a suicide often chose to end their life in style rather than to live the pain of illness or other degradation. It's a bit like a decision on how to died rather than imposed by destiny. But, if the act of suicide is a gesture that is sometimes long planned, the final action is always decided in a short time.
Some moviegoers will probably reconcile this fiction and the recent suicide of Robin Williams who did not want to confront the disease.
Claude Lelouch film was screened for the public at WFF 2014 and it will be available later on the big screen.

LUCIEN BOUCHARD - A SOLITARY MAN

Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
Lucien Bouchard returns to the forefront and a documentary about him will be broadcast on Télé-Québec Monday night August 25.
The old feud with former Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney will be discussed but it will be especially the failure of the 1995 referendum which will be the focus of the story. According to Lucien Bouchard, Quebec separation is ancient history and the momentum is finished. For this reason he does not believe that the Bloc should continue to exist or any other referendum should be held in Quebec by the Parti Quebecois as it would be lost!
Lucien is a very charming creature (I knew him directly into two of my former lives...) but he is also a profoundly lonely man for whom friendship is a temporary concept and a gesture of politeness. For Lucien it is the idea that is important and he likes to defend his ideas. He can be described as a friendly and convincing intellectual.
Lucien Bouchard is a wonderful man but do not expect him to be your real friend because he will become a disappointing character. Nothing serious in itself, you just have to know it...
Brian Mulroney is not the only one who felt betrayed in his friendship with Lucien Bouchard. Pierre Peladeau father was also on the number and he have kept that feeling until his death in 1997. We could add Pierre Karl who will now undoubtedly join the group following the statements by Lucien in the documentary about the defeat of a possible future Quebec referendum...

LUCIE CHAGNON (1929-2014)

Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
Lucie Chagnon, the wife of the founder of Videotron André Chagnon (86 years), died at age 85 Sunday, August 17. She suffered for several years from Alzheimer's disease.
A woman involved in her community but especially a deep inspiration behind the exceptional professional success of her husband who doomed love and complete trust in his wife and her advice. The couple has been married for over 65 years and had five children.
The Videotron empire founded in 1964 by André, an electrician by training, was sold to Quebecor in 2000 because no one in the family wanted to take over from the founder. Quebecor and the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec acquired it for an investment of $ 5.7 billion in a takeover of the former monopoly that the Chagnon family had first sold to Ontario's Rogers. Supported by the desire of the Prime Minister at the time Bernard Landry, the Caisse de dépôt who had a stake in the company opposed the sale to Rogers and created an alliance with Quebecor led by Pierre Karl Peladeau. After a period of denial, the Chagnon family had finally accepted that Quebecor became the owner of the company.
Lucie Chagnon had many friends in the arts community that she appreciated the contact and that she has in many ways supported and helped.

THE MONTREAL POLICE AND THEIR POWER ...

Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
We should be very concerned about the conduct of the Montreal police officers who watched idly firefighters invade and destroy the city hall of Montreal along with other municipal employees forcing Mayor Denis Coderre to take refuge in his office and lock the doors.
During these events, the police on site looked on with a smile and some even welcomed a handshake protesters... These same policemen who hit on student protesters with combat suits today do nothing against their municipal colleagues.
We live in a society with at least two weights, two measures!
To add to the debate, the same police want to ask 7% salary increase in 2015...
The actions of the Montreal police who supported their firefighters and other municipal employees colleagues by not intervening in the sacking of the town hall are particularly dangerous and can compare to the situation of Ferguson Missouri. It suffices of a single isolated event to totally explode the situation and cause a mass movement. There would be dozens of deaths daily by police shooting in the United States but the one of the young black in Ferguson sparked a revolt that could spread across the country.
Montreal police have made many gestures deemed unworthy by the population, but it has always been tolerated especially the police violence against student protesters. But the devastation of the city hall of Montreal is the event that reduces to zero the police credibility and create a total loss of confidence in them. This event is the one who gets hit the pot as in Tom Wolfe's novel THE BONFIRE OF VANITIES...

SERGE LOSIQUE - The immortal warrior ...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The founder of the World Film Festival of Montreal, Serge Losique, could be called the "immortal warrior"...
The character may be 83 years old but he has lost none of his determination and he intends to stay up until the end, even if he were to lose the war. But if the programming of the WFF 2014 is an decisive element, Serge Losique is heading for a second win after the first 2005 victory that he had won despite significant financial damage.
A total of 350 feature films from 74 countries are on schedule for the WFF 2014, films that mainly highlight the various ailments and conflicts taking place around the world, almost as if the organizers of the FFM were influenced in their choice of films by their own survival situation.
The event will run from August 21 to September 1, 2014.
