HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 -
By Bernard Bujold -
The beginning of a new year is also the end of another and the end of a story is always sad whether it is a book, a movie, a play, a music concert, a job, a trip, the moving from a house, or simply the life that ends with the death of our loved ones.
For me, the year 2020 will have been the year of the END:
1. The end of civilization as I knew it until last March before the arrival of the coronavirus;
2. The end of my love for the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts when Nathalie Bondil was fired in July, with the direct consequence of having shaken the entire Museum to its core;
3. The end of my passion for American politics when Donald Trump was robbed of the November 3rd presidential election;
4. The end of the existence of dozens of people I knew and admired.
What will the year 2021 be like?
The beginning of a new year is always full of hope! But first we will have to grieve and then act.
The greatest human quality is resilience.
Personally, I like to say that the most important thing in life is to survive. Surviving beautifully as fate sometimes suggests, or "holding on with a wire," as The Dashing Cowboys sing in the song "Sur mon épaule". Holding on with a wire means holding on to life and overcoming obstacles and injustices without any real means other than courage and perseverance.
To greet the new year 2021, I offer you the lyrics of two characters that I admire a lot and who inspire me:
- Bernard Arnault: "We must live with the living and leave the dead with the dead (individuals as events)". In other words, to know how to continue to live despite the departure of our loved ones or the end of our passions.
- Nicolas Sarkozy: "There is no point in worrying about tomorrow, because life never unfolds as we planned it! "
Nathalie Bondil is proof of the unpredictability of life. Who would have thought that such a dynamic, inspiring and successful leader could be the victim of an individual, let's say of much lesser stature and talent? It still shocks me, especially since for me, Nathalie is the most generous and humane person I have ever known in my entire life.
Another proof of unpredictability is Donald Trump who worked hard throughout the American presidential election campaign. Yet his opponent, who stood back and watched from his home, doing nothing, and with a weak image, thwarted Donald's best efforts!
But, despite all the known ends in 2020, let's never forget that the most important thing in all human life is love. I often say to my two children, my son and my daughter, "I love you. » And if there is one feeling that survives death and the END, it is precisely love. This feeling is eternal and surpasses everything else!
Moreover, as far as I am concerned, I consider that 90% of our actions in life will only be anecdotes forgotten with the passage of time and that History often sees life and its unfolding differently.
Happy New Year 2021 to all of you!

CHRISTMAS 2020 - WITH OR WITHOUT SANTA (Part 10)

CHRISTMAS 2020 WITH OR WITHOUT SANTA
By Bernard Bujold -
The year 2020 will have been difficult until the end!
The three Goblins, Ulysses and their host will have waited until early morning on Christmas Eve but Santa never arrived. Finally, at dawn, the group contacted the North Pole via the internet, the ZOOM version used by Santa. Santa was in a good mood, but because of the rain, strong wind and Coronavirus around the world, Santa preferred to play it safe and refrain from doing his annual tour.
Santa said that he is with us in thought and that he loves us all very much!
The group chatted for more than two hours and a new communication must take place on Christmas Day to establish a way for the elves to return to the North Pole.

CHRISTMAS 2020 WITH OR WITHOUT SANTA CLAUS - THE MAGIC FOREST -
By Bernard Bujold -
Two days before Christmas, knowing that the day of December 25th will be rainy and windy, the Elves, Ulysses and their host wanted to take advantage of the sun to go for a walk in the forest of the "Magic Trees".
The only one missing was Santa Claus, whose visit and return to the North Pole with the Elves is still unknown...

CHRISTMAS 2020 - WITH OR WITHOUT SANTA - MIDNIGHT MASS (Part 8)

CHRISTMAS 2020 - MIDNIGHT MASS-
By Bernard Bujold -
Jesus is said to have said, "There are many who are called, but few who are chosen."
This sentence applies perfectly to the celebration of the midnight mass of 2020. There will be 5 midnight Masses at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal on Thursday, December 24th at 4, 6, 8, 10 and midnight. However, only 25 faithful will be able to attend each of these masses... Tickets will be distributed the same day from 1 p.m. on. The same schedule is repeated on Christmas Day.
The Elves and Ulysse would have liked to attend a mass, but they will instead watch it on television!
