THE LAST WEEKEND OF JULY 2022 -

THE LAST WEEKEND OF JULY 2022 -
By Bernard Bujold -
It's already the last weekend of July!
The visitor, the good Pope Francis, will return to Rome at the end of the day this Friday, July 29, after a visit to northern Quebec in Nunavut, but the sun will stay with us for the whole weekend, and even longer...
Ulysse and I will take advantage of the nice weather to water the wild flowers in the garden, a species of incredible whiteness, a color that reminds Ulysse of the official colors of his new friend François...
As for me, I'm going to read a few chapters of my favorite book of the summer: THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS by Robert A. Heinlein, also one of Elon Musk's favorite books.
Have a good weekend on July 29th and especially a good summer 2022 to all of you!

POPE FRANCIS AND HIS INSPIRATION

POPE FRANCIS AND HIS INSPIRATION -
By Bernard Bujold -
Pope Francis ended his visit to Canada on Friday July 19, 2022, with a visit and speech in Nunavut. Impossible not to make a direct connection with the style of a Donald Trump who is inspired by the theories of Norman Vincent Peale.
The Pope's message had three specific pieces of advice to First Peoples:
 1. Think big;
 2. Believe in your dreams and work towards your goal;
 3. Support your approach with a team.
A positive thinking message in its purest form.

THE VISITOR IS LEAVING - POPE FRANCIS

THE VISITOR IS LEAVING - POPE FRANCIS -
By Bernard Bujold -
Three conclusions to the visit of Pope Francis:
 1. the man is a skilled thinker who knows how to respond to criticism;
 2. First Nations are disappointed with the Pope's apology and would have liked more than words;
 3. and the ex-mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre must regret having placed himself in the forefront of the scene because it cannot be said that he succeeded in attracting the crowds around the visit of which he was the official ambassador...

POSITIVE THINKING ACCORDING TO POPE FRANCIS

POSITIVE THINKING ACCORDING TO POPE FRANCIS -
By Bernard Bujold -
Pope Francis' homily at the Mass celebrated at St. Anne's Basilica on Thursday, July 28, 2022, was on the Gospel of St. Luke, Chap 24, V 18-35 (the two disciples of Emmaus). One might think that the Pope is closer to the ideology of a Norman Vincent Peale than that of the traditional Catholic Church. Pope Francis encourages a positive outlook on the future despite failures, obstacles and persecution.
Personally, I immediately thought of the Democrats' persecution of Donald Trump since 2016; and Jean Charest's difficulties against Pierre Poilièvre...
In the end, Pope Francis did not directly address the residential school issue...

POPE FRANCIS AND THE MAPLE TREES

POPE FRANCIS AND THE MAPLE TREES -
By Bernard Bujold -
Pope Francis gave a speech in Quebec City on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 on the future of the planet; the importance of finding ways to end wars in the world; his admiration for the Canadian maple tree and its symbolism. At the end, he asked for forgiveness for the residential schools for which he blamed the governments of the day and some Christians and local churches.
A speech worthy of a great humanist, but which did not seem to satisfy the First Nations leaders who would have preferred a unique perspective on the residential school affair.

THE GOD OF THE SEA - STEPHEN HARPER -

THE GOD OF THE SEA - STEPHEN HARPER -
By Bernard Bujold -
Stephen Harper could be called the god of the sea...
But he is not the only god to emerge from the waters, and throughout history in politics, similar alliances have decided the winner.
Personally, I observed the same situation up close when Brian Mulroney eliminated Joe Clark to take his place as leader in 1983; and later in 2002, Aline Chrétien convinced her husband Jean Chrétien not to leave his post because Paul Martin had shown him the door...
Stephen Harper gave Jean Charest a hard time by supporting Pierre Poilièvre but that's part of the laws of the sea!
A bottle would have been seen on the beach...

POPE FRANCIS AND THE MIRACLES -

POPE FRANCIS AND THE MIRACLES -
By Bernard Bujold -
A columnist from the Journal de Montréal raises an interesting aspect regarding the Pope's visit in July 2022 and religious belief.
While several social media outlets eliminate news deemed "Fake News" when there is no scientific evidence, for example the Coronavirus or Donald Trump's claim that the 2020 election was fraudulent, how then to consider the religious claim that miracles exist and that God created the world in 6 days then rested and sanctified the seventh day. He would then have gradually adjusted his earthly creation to install there Adam, a male and Eve, a female whom he would have created in his image in order to reign over his creation.
An interesting discussion in itself!

POPE FRANCIS - A REBEL -

POPE FRANCIS - A REBEL -
By Bernard Bujold -
If there is one personality trait that best describes Pope Francis, it is that of a rebel.
In a way, he reminds me of Donald Trump, and it is said that he is as disturbing to Vatican tradition as Trump is to the American left in the United States.
Pope Francis, whose real name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio, has never been the pope of unanimity within his church. He was even expelled from his Jesuit Order...
His visit to Canada is captivating, but in my opinion, it will not change anything in the history of Canada...
Pope Francis is a great politician even if he claims the contrary and his biographies show it well. He is a great strategist!
Personally, I like his rebellious side and a few years ago I bought a copy of his watch, a Swatch, the most economical model of the brand (Once Again).
I like to tell my friends that I have the Pope's watch...

THE BOTTLE TO THE SEA OF THE SUMMER 2022

THE BOTTLE TO THE SEA OF THE SUMMER 2022 -
By Bernard Bujold-
Here's the bottle being thrown into the sea! Out of loyalty to my conservative friends, including Jean Charest, Brian Mulroney and others, I chose the candidate of the old guard. What else could an old man like me do...
I am loyal to the end!
To be continued!

THE FLAME OF FORGIVENESS OF POPE FRANCIS

THE FLAME OF POPE FRANCIS-
By Bernard Bujold -
The flame of fire remains one of the greatest symbols of humanity because of its meaning and its role. It is said that the fire would be of divine origin coming from the sky and it animates the thought and spiritualizes it. Fire is the symbol of hope.
Nothing is more relaxing and magical than watching a fire on a beach to welcome the fall of the day before the night.
Ulysse and I are very happy to offer our beach fire of this July weekend to Pope Francis who arrived in Canada on Sunday July 24, 2022 for a six day visit.
Long live the summer of 2022, long live beach fires, long live Francis, and long live Italian beer... SEE PHOTOS
