THE END OF A LEGEND...

On Monday, November 10, 2025, Photo Service owner and president, Jean Charles Savard, announced that his photo store would be closing its doors for good on January 3, 2026. This will mark the end not only of an era, but also of a Montreal legend. Since its inception 89 years ago, all Montreal photographers have frequented Photo Service at some point in their careers.
Personally, I have purchased several cameras and accessories and have always been very satisfied with my purchases. Unfortunately, since the advancement of cell phones, I have moved away from cameras. The end of Photo Service is partly due to the abandonment of photographers like me, but the real blame ultimately lies with cell phone technology.
