Journalists and support staff at newspapers used to believe that rich people could perform a magic trick with their fortunes and save newspapers from their moribund situation. 

But no! Jeff Bezos and others have bought many media outlets, but the failure of their former owners has not gone away. Newspapers worldwide continue to post multi-million-dollar annual losses, $100 million last year in the case of the Washington Post. 

What is more, in 2024, there will be a new transformation as several media outlets, including The New York Times, build teams of engineers to integrate Artificial Intelligence into their operations. 

The age of modern media is in full transformation! Stay tuned!

In my opinion. Denis Coderre has no intention of becoming the next leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP). 
If there's one thing Denis and I have in common, it's a good grasp of communication concepts... 
It's obvious that Coderre needs exposure, and the buzz around his possible run for the Liberal leadership is bringing him back into the public spotlight. He needs a vehicle, and he's chosen the Liberal leadership. This should give him a second wind in the media, and why not, a job in a major media outlet. In the end, it also gets the PLQ some light... 
Americans use this technique regularly, notably Howard Stern...

I've always said that titles and financial wealth are no proof of the greatness of an individual's soul, man or woman! That's why the old man in me loves the solitude of the mountains...

THE GENERATIONS OF 2024-

When I was growing up in my village in the Gaspé, community spirit was very much a part of everyday life, and often three generations lived in the same house. If there's one peculiarity of the population in 2024, it's the difference in how they deal with the people around them, especially as cities are filled with anonymous condo buildings! 

I've noticed that people under 50 are generally discreet and in their own bubble, barely saying hello to those around them; people 50 and over like to chat a lot and are always curious about others, sometimes verging on the indiscreet; and people over 70 are definitely very sociable, hating solitude and showing boredom with life, and sometimes even naive about the other people around them. Hence the reason, I imagine, that some elderly people are often victims of abuse and fraud of various kinds. They trust too much! 

I thought my perception was personal, but I've discussed it with several of my friends and neighbors. They agree with my observation... The question is: why such a difference from the past? Perhaps the Internet is one reason? This promises to be the case with the arrival of artificial intelligence in 2024... 

How do I behave? I'm young in spirit, but I have the unpredictable behavior of an old man alone on the mountain with his dog...

MEDIA IN 2024...

If there's one medium that's growing fast in 2024, it's radio... 

There was a time, in the 1990s, when you needed millions of dollars in capital to start a radio station. I was approached for QUEBECOR in 1995 by Jean-Pierre Coallier for his RADIO-CLASSIQUE station. He asked for $2 million for 50% of the station, which opened in June 1998. Pierre Péladeau declined the partnership... 

In 2024, radio is a very economical medium, provided it breaks with tradition. That's exactly what Quebecor is doing with QUB. 

Internet radio also makes it possible to add video animation, often produced using a simple smartphone camera... Gregory Charles experimented with this kind of broadcast when he owned RADIO-CLASSIQUE in the 2019s. 

I have a Facebook contact (François Harrisson) who hosts a program on a francophone internet radio station based in the Maritimes, yet he lives in another part of the country. 

Internet radio is definitely the voice of the future!
