With the start of the new year come resolutions.
The most common one for many people is the gym! People dream of regaining their youthful shape...
Personally, I've been going to the gym since I was a teenager, and if there's one secret to my continuity over the years, it's that I've never trained beyond my body's comfort level. In other words, for me, the gym is a pleasure.
My training program has adapted from year to year, but it's been the same for the last 5 or 6 years.
Currently, my one-hour program is divided into three parts:
1. 30 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill;
2. 20 minutes of exercise with free weights and resistance machines;
3. 10 minutes of meditation in the garden, during the four seasons.
I like to train alone, as it allows me to let my mind think freely. I train every day very early in the morning.
I often tell those around me that the gym is like a church where I'm in touch with my inner soul and maintaining a healthy metabolism.
In conclusion, never forget that if you don't enjoy your visit to the gym, and it's a chore, you'll give up at the first opportunity.
