Quebec entrepreneur and philanthropist Daniel Langlois died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, probably by murder, on the Caribbean island of Dominica.
Daniel Langlois became famous when he sold his company SOFTIMAGE to Bill Gates' Microsoft. Several Quebec artists were among the 35 start-up investors, each contributing $10,000 in 1987. When Microsoft bought the company in a deal worth $200 million in 1994, all 35 investors became rich, including Yvon Deschamps, who was part of the group...
In 1996, Daniel Langlois became the founder of Excentris, which was sold in 2011 and closed in 2016. In 2002, Langlois purchased the 357 de la Commune building and created Club 357C, which closed in 2012.
