The mystery surrounding the two violent deaths of Daniel Langlois and his wife Dominique Marchand, found in a ravine in December 2023, is growing.
The hypothesis of a dispute over the right of way on an Island road is becoming less and less solid, and several other theories are being put forward.
The country's economy is based on the sale of passports in return for an investment in real estate. Annual revenue from passports is estimated at over $1 billion, representing 55% of the country's income. The main buyers of passports are China, Russia and Iran.
What's more, the island is said to be a prized territory for drug cartels, and Daniel Langlois said he was concerned about this problem, which he wanted to eradicate.
And to add to the mystery, it would appear impossible to formally identify the two bodies, leaving some doubt about their true identity.
