STARS AND FAME...

Personally, I never admire someone for their financial wealth, professional titles, or medals of recognition. I admire someone based on my instinct, and I don't trust anyone to begin with... 
Since December 1, three stars have fallen from their podiums: a neighbor of mine who is considered a Quebec genius; a great international actor whom I had the pleasure of knowing; and a journalist whose critical analysis I appreciate. 
I once wrote that honors are just anecdotes in life and that the real reality is always something else in the end...

Catherine Tait knows one thing: there's no point in fighting for the survival of CBC/Radio-Canada because she's out of the game. 
Tait was born in Athens in 1958 (age 65). She has enjoyed a 30-year career in television and film production in Canada and the United States, starting out at Telefilm Canada in the 1980s. Catherine Tait sees the writing on the wall, and it's clear to her that her career is over. That's why she's off to Australia, and why she has no intention of cutting off bonuses to her Radio-Canada/CBC family, many of whom no doubt also see the end of their working lives at Radio-Canada/CBC. 
Let's hope that the next leader of the CBC will have a more combative spirit.

The faithful Ulysse took advantage of a rather quiet Sunday to invite his Elf friends to the gym! The Elves loved it, and were able to compare Ulysse's gym with the one at the North Pole... 
After the workout, everyone gathered around the fireplace.

As the Fox News special with Donald Trump and Sean Hannity drew to a close last night, Tuesday, December 5, my Elf friends decided to give me an early Christmas present for December 25. 
Knowing my great passion for photography, the elves gave me two magnificent frames of Donald Trump, one in black and white, the other in color. The two museum-quality enlargements were hung in the two best places in the residence. 
Who says elves aren't nice? They're "angels" of great artistic culture!

I've been an admirer of CBC since my early days in journalism in the early 1980s when my idol was Bernard Derome and CBC / Radio-Canada was at the top of the pyramid. The fall budget cuts (December 4, 2023) are painful, but even more painful are the hints that Radio-Canada executives may be receiving financial bonuses as 800 jobs are eliminated... 

 If bonuses are indeed paid, the executives could be compared to the ship's officers who would flee with the ship's booty before it sinks to the bottom of the ocean with its crew of sailors!

Daniel Langlois and his wife, Dominique Marchand, were murdered by a hitman following a dispute with the owner of a neighboring estate, according to the theory of the Dominica police. The tragic event is worthy of an American movie script...

Quebec entrepreneur and philanthropist Daniel Langlois died on Sunday, December 3, 2023, probably by murder, on the Caribbean island of Dominica. 
Daniel Langlois became famous when he sold his company SOFTIMAGE to Bill Gates' Microsoft. Several Quebec artists were among the 35 start-up investors, each contributing $10,000 in 1987. When Microsoft bought the company in a deal worth $200 million in 1994, all 35 investors became rich, including Yvon Deschamps, who was part of the group... 
In 1996, Daniel Langlois became the founder of Excentris, which was sold in 2011 and closed in 2016. In 2002, Langlois purchased the 357 de la Commune building and created Club 357C, which closed in 2012.
