After a certain age, our birthday is no longer a cause for great celebration, but rather a countdown. Indeed, with old age, another year added to our age also means one less year of the time we have left...
But hey, you have to enjoy every moment, and for me, a birthday is still an opportunity to celebrate with friends.
For my birthday on Saturday, June 28, 2025 (the same day as Elon Musk), I copied Taylor Swift's style and bought myself five friendship bracelets named after my five sources of inspiration. To complete the set, I also bought toy figurines of each of these five characters, and added figurines of my three mascots, and why not, one to my effigy...
I've always loved figurines, and when I was a teenager in Gaspésie, I discovered photography by taking pictures of my figurines. My passion for toys is what keeps me young, even today at an old age...
Among the gifts I received: a magnificent pair of sunglasses for walks, and from my son, the autobiography of Giorgia Meloni, a woman I greatly admire and who, if I were younger and in another life, could have been my kind of lover.
A gift from me to myself: a Paul Smith suit that I bought when La Baie stores closed...
With age, friends often ask me existential questions...
1. The greatest achievement of my life? My two children and my grandchildren.
2. Do I have regrets in my life? Yes: 90% of the thousands of social events I attended, most of which were ultimately a waste of time. Today, I only accept 10% of the invitations I receive, and I have become a happy man who no longer wastes his time.
3. The greatest joy in my life? Having lived during the era of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Steve Jobs.
4. How do I want to die? Of a heart attack at my daily favorite place, the gym.
In the end, let's never forget that the most important feelings in life are love and friendship, and that everything else is just anecdotes. Obviously, we can't love everyone, nor can everyone love us! That's why when we discover love and friendship, we should rejoice and recognize our chance!
