It's a journalism story that would normally totally destroy the career of the journalist in question. Patrick Lagacé published in 2016 a series (written and TV) on a criminal he said became honest while he continued his crimes.
Lagacé is using his column this Saturday, June 5, 2021, to apologize and say that he was wrong in his reporting on the criminal.
Three questions arise:
1. Did Patrick Lagacé also make mistakes in other reports?
2. What will happen to his credibility in the future of his career?
3. How many other journalists, in other media, have made the same kind of mistake as Lagacé with their own reports?
In the end, we can say that mistakes in reporting are what we call "FAKE NEWS" and that often, reporting is more entertainment than truth!
And journalists will say that Fake News is an invention by Donald Trump...
