The American presidential campaign of 2024 is reminiscent of that of 2016, and is also reminiscent of Lafontaine's fable “The Hare and the Tortoise”...
In the 2016 US presidential election, Hillary Clinton was comfortably leading the polls, and the Democrats had even prepared the victory party in a grand New York hotel.
Donald Trump, however, had been strategic and won with the highest number of electoral votes, despite a popular vote in Hillary's favor.
In 2020, Joe Biden narrowly won the election because of the COVID crisis, which traumatized the whole world and created a kind of fear of the Trump character.
In 2024, neither candidate dominates the campaign, except that observers recognize that Trump has a detailed policy agenda, unlike Harris, who occupies the “novelty” chair. Kamala's popularity is not due to her qualities but to the event of Joe Biden's departure.
If we compare Kamala with Hillary in 2016. Clinton had a much better chance of winning thanks to her achievements in presidential politics, in addition to the Clinton name.
The question that now remains is:
Will Kamala Harris be able to make it to November 5 on the wave of the Biden event?
It's a race against time, and all bets are on..
Rabbit versus turtle!
To be continued!
