END-OF-SUMMER CLEANING 2024...

END-OF-SUMMER CLEANING...
By Bernard Bujold -
With autumn arriving next Tuesday, September 22, it's the perfect time to do some season cleaning. I took the opportunity to clean the gym and change the posters. Out of the Taylor Swift ones… I've replaced them with a magnificent Willie Nelson poster. Of course, my workout music will now be Willie Nelson's country collection for the next few months.
My favorite song is "NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT NOW.
Happy end of summer 2024 and have a great weekend!

TECHNOLOGICAL WARFARE

TECHNOLOGICAL WARFARE-
By Bernard Bujold -
Who would have thought that a thousand pagers could be remotely detonated by overheating the battery, thanks to a program (bug) inserted into the pager when it was manufactured. The result is a violent and deadly explosion for the person carrying the pager.
War has become technological!

WINSTON CHURCHILL AND YOUSUF KARSH

WINSTON CHURCHILL AND YOUSUF KARSH -
By Bernard Bujold -
For over 30 years, Winston Churchill stared down guests in the lounge at the Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. It was a legacy of Yousuf Karsh, the portrait photographer of royalty, politicians, artists, actors, and authors who long lived in the hotel and operated his studio there. However, a maintenance worker noticed that the picture had been stolen just over two years ago. The picture has been recently recovered in Italy and will return soon in Ottawa.

THE AMERICANS IN 2024...

AMERICANS DIVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS...
By Bernard Bujold- The presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, demonstrated that Americans are more than ever divided into two distinct groups.
Trump supporters see Donald as the fiery politician they adore, while Harris supporters see Kamala as the vision of what the USA should be according to them. In the end, however, the undecideds will decide the outcome on November 5, and according to post-debate polls, these undecideds are still no more convinced of one candidate than the other...

THE 2024 DEBATE

THE 2024 DEBATE -
By Bernard Bujold -
Two candidates for the title of champion! On the left corner is Donald Trump, a former president well-versed in the art of debate. On the right, Joe Biden's vice president, Kamala Harris. If we were in a sports competition, the former president would be standing at 6.3 feet tall and the vice president at 5.4 feet... The coveted trophy is the occupancy of the White House for the next four years.

ELEVATOR TO INFINITY...

ELEVATOR TO INFINITY...
By Bernard Bujold -
I'm not usually afraid of the unexpected in life, but I do hate not having a way out...
This is the situation I experienced the day after Labor Day when I got stuck in a broken-down elevator.
The first five minutes are entertaining in a way, but after half an hour it becomes less enjoyable, especially if the building employee is shouting at you from behind the door that he can't open it in any way, and the ceiling loudspeaker is blaring instructions to operate the built-in telephone while you have no access to the famous locked phone. After 30 minutes locked in, you think: “This is how I'm going to die...”. It's silly to think that, but that's what I thought! The fact remains that if I'd had a heart attack and no way of getting out, it could have been a very dramatic event!
Fortunately, I'm in good physical shape! The good news is that I got out alive, thanks to the firefighters, 45 minutes later...
But in conclusion, I can say that I prefer the hammock to the elevator...
Thanks to the firefighters and happy end of summer 2024!
