LIFE ON THE BALCONY IN THE CITY-

LIFE ON THE BALCONY IN THE CITY -
By Bernard Bujold -
A resident of Old Montreal lived the perfect happiness when she bought her condo about ten years ago with a magnificent balcony-terrace whose view on the city was incomparable with three cardinal points!
But now the owner of the small parcel of land (formerly a small parking lot) located right in front of the balcony decided to build the wing of his own condo building. The once breathtaking view from the terrace has become a view on a brick wall!
There remains the view of a small garden in front of the building and there will never be construction on this land because the garden is used to cover a municipal sewer...

THE FIRE SEASON ...

THE FIRE SEASON...
By Bernard Bujold -
With the approach of the summer season also comes the fire season... on balcony. Indeed more and more high rise buildings are victims of fires caused by forgotten cigarettes in flower pots! The fertilizer in flower pots is a material that ignites like gasoline.
After the newspaper Le Devoir, another building in Old Montreal last Sunday (June 3, 2018) was evacuated in the middle of the night for a fire that had been lit on a roof terrace.
Worse than the fire is the stress and fear of the residents thrown to the street at the beginning of the night. If the fire can be quickly controlled by firefighters, the stress, the danger of falling and the fear are not and can sometimes be more dangerous than the fire...

MARTINE OUELLET AND THE ART OF GIVING UP

MARTINE OUELLET AND THE ART OF GIVING UP
By Bernard Bujold-
Politician Martine Ouellet reminds me of Hillary Clinton who does not yet accept her defeat during the 2016 US election...
Bloc Québécois leader Martine Ouellet used more than 20 minutes at the start of her press conference (Monday, June 4, 2018) to criticize and blame other Bloc Québécois leaders or members of Parliament for treason against her before saying that she will resign as of June 11 (miracle could happen by then...).
In politics as in life, we win or lose but we have to accept the result and as we say: "Switch to another call ..."
What I do not understand in Martine Ouellet case is her relentlessness. She broke her health and lost some beautiful time of her life (see picture before and after) while for several months she must had seen that the game was played over her head. "It was all over her head! ".
In life one have to recognize the battles you can not win and choose another fight. Great leaders fight only for struggles they can win, often winning in advance. It's called survival instinct!

The promenade of the PORT OF MONTREAL is now open to the general public. A beautiful rooftop garden on the main building that will be accessible at all times for visitors in the Old Port of Montreal. The lucky ones, they will be able to attend a show by the "boat launcher of water"...

THE MONTREAL MUSEUMS DAY 2018

THE MONTREAL MUSEUMS DAY 2018-
By Bernard Bujold-
Some 30 museums in Montreal received visitors for free on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
However, major museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts or Pointe-à-Callière did not include in the visit their temporary exhibition which meant that neither Picasso nor the Queens of Egypt were accessible to the public for free...
A disappointment that according to the guides is attributable to the lack of subsidies from governments...
Personally I loved the McCord Museum's "SHALOM MONTRÉAL" exhibit about Montreal's Jewish community.
I also made an interesting discovery by visiting the McGill University Museum (Redpath Museum). In fact, the founder of the University, James McGill, was physically like Donald Trump...
If I have a second disappointment, it is that of the "cat" at the exhibition on Egypt. Indeed, in the catalog, the black cat cover a full page while in reality, it is a tiny cat barely two inches. It is so tiny that I had to go back to see it because I did not notice it during my first visit!

GÉRARD DEPARDIEU IS VISITING QUEBEC

GÉRARD DEPARDIEU IS VISITING QUEBEC
By Bernard Bujold-
The friendly and colorful character that is Gerard Depardieu is in town for his show DEPARDIEU CHANTE BARBARA presented in Quebec City tonight on May 22 and in Montreal Wednesday and Thursday May 23 and 24.
Gerard gave a few interviews, including one at the Soleil and another at the Journal de Montreal and also at Radio Canada.
In summary, Gerard hates the Cannes Film Festival and the cinema that is currently being done is not interesting. He does not admire the Quebec star Xavier Dolan...
He likes the voice and talent of Celine Dion, which he compares to Russian singers. He is also very fond of Robert Charlevoix's lyrics but is no longer friends with Luc Plamondon, whom he artistically attended in the 1980s.
Politically, Gerard voted in the recent presidential election of Russia and we imagine that it was for his friend Vladimir...
But he is not interested in politics or all the noise around the political movements of the genre ME TOO that he considers as representing anecdotes that have existed since the world is world.
He likes best to spend his time observing real life and real people.
