It was one of those garlic pasta dinners last night, Saturday, November 18, and the discussion turned to the definition of rich people.
The question was about their intelligence, whether it was superior or not.
I've known about twenty very wealthy people, ranging from Paul Desmarais, Pierre Péladeau, Jean Coutu, André Chagnon, Robert Campeau, and the like. None of them gave me the feeling that they were super-intelligent.
Common sense, controlling their fears, dominating, and being aware of their weaknesses. They were also lucky at some point. The so-called "turning point".
That's my assessment of rich people.
The rich man who impressed me the most was Paul Desmarais. A shy man, but very dominant.
The thing is, once you're rich, wealth increases by itself. The hardest thing is to get out of poverty. And all the rich people I've known started out poor...
Conclusion: if you're rich, enjoy it without questioning why you're lucky, and if you're poor, hang on to survive even if it's with a tin wire...
And never forget that everything is a passage and nothing is eternal in life!
The guests said they loved my legendary garlic pasta!
