The horror story of the private CHSLD Herron shocked Quebecers. But what the general public doesn't know is that the Quebec government "buys" thousands of places in the private network, at least 10,000 places according to the current count.
The Coronavirus crisis has shaken the government's crutch!
With the virus, the government has increased the rate of transfer of sick seniors from hospitals to private residences to free up hospital beds in order to be ready for the virus. The Private Residences should have refused the requests because they were not able to deliver the requested goods.
The buyer (the government) ended up with a seller who had nothing left in inventory.
