THE ACADIANS AND 2021...

THE ACADIANS AND 2021...
By Bernard Bujold-
None of my Acadian friends have found the answer to my riddle...
The story of Evangeline and Acadia as told by Longfellow has a direct link to our time. What is it?
It is well written at the end of Longfellow's poem Evangeline and very well described in the historical texts of the Université de Moncton After the deportation, Evangeline became a nun caring for the sick, and she reunited with her Gabriel in Louisiana, in a hospice for the feverishly dying, a victim of the yellow fever crisis almost 40 years after the deportation of 1755. The yellow fever epidemic of 1793 is comparable to the Coronavirus of 2020-2021.
It is said that history repeats itself and this is particularly true of the Acadian era during the period 1604 to 1763 which bears a striking resemblance to our modern politics of 2021 and in particular that of the United States with all its polarization, violence, racism and uncertainty.
