THE DESTINY OF JULIE PAYETTE

I had the pleasure of photographing Julie Payette for a project with the Montreal Orchestre métropolitain. It was in 2002 and she was leading a conference on music and the planets. Julie is an accomplished pianist.
We had a lot of fun during the photo session. Julie Payette was 39 years old at the time.
I saw Julie again in 2013 at a private cocktail party for about 20 people at a mutual friend's house in Westmount and, to my great disappointment, she didn't recognize me...
Julie seemed sad and suspicious. She no longer had the beautiful smile I had known. She was with her son, but no spouse. I was surprised by her coldness.
I learned later that she had divorced in 2012 and that in 2011, a tragedy had turned her life upside down when she had killed a woman in a car accident.
In 2013, Julie became the head of the Science Centre in Old Montreal, but will leave in 2016.
I recently learned that she was forced to resign in exchange for $200,000 in compensation. The cause was complaints of verbal abuse by her towards several employees.
When she was appointed Governor General in 2017, I told myself that it wouldn't hold up, but I didn't say anything on my various social media, probably out of nostalgia of my 2002 photo shoot?
It's a sad situation that Julie Payette is going through right now, but it's a little Justin Trudeau's fault. He couldn't, didn't know about Julie's behavioral problems and he should never have given this job to her.
It is said that during his approach, he told Julie that he had grown up with a poster of the astronaut in his room. Justin still had a deep admiration for Julie Payette in 2017 and it would have been this admiration that would have motivated his choice...
We can only wish good luck to Julie, who is now 57 years old, and forget her after "return on earth"!
