MY FATHER'S ROSES FOR MY MOTHER-

MY FATHER'S ROSES FOR MY MOTHER-
By Bernard Bujold -
My father loved flowers and trees. He surrounded his Gaspesie home with many varieties of trees and he embellished the garden with many flowers including roses. My mother would pick these roses during the summer to make homemade honey, according to a recipe passed down from her own mother.
Recently, during a bike ride, I came across a rose garden that reminded me of the roses of my childhood and my parents in Gaspésie.
Today in 2021, the trees and roses no longer exist in front of the Gaspesian house but my memory remains...
Who said that the memory of roses is eternal?

DENIS CODERRE IS IN BUSINESS...

DENIS CODERRE IS IN BUSINESS...-
By Bernard Bujold-
Montrealers can say hello to Montreal mayoral candidate Denis Coderre who will be driving around the city in the next few months, until November 7...
Indeed, his political party ENSEMBLE MONTRÉAL has acquired (or rented) a beautiful van with Denis' picture on the sides.
We can say that Denis Coderre is in business...
VVVvvrrrrmmmm ;)

SUMMER READING 2021 -

SUMMER READING 2021 -
By Bernard Bujold -
I had planned to read three books during the summer of 2021 but so far six books are on my bedside table.
I am currently reading a Wall Street Journal reporter's account of the various events surrounding the November 3, 2020 failure. The blame for Donald Trump's defeat can be placed on three things.
1. First, the coronavirus crisis that transformed the relationship in society, including the voting process, increasing the possibility of fraud;
2. Second, a poor decision, or fear, to wait before attacking Joe Biden. Donald Trump and some of his team wanted to spare Biden for fear that if he destroyed him too early in the campaign, the Democrats would replace him with Bernie Sanders at the convention. Some members of Donald's organization wanted to take Biden down early in the campaign but decided to wait;
3. The third cause of failure is a lack of unity (teamwork) among the various members of Trump's campaign cabinet. A political team is like a hockey team and it takes total unity to win.
I enjoyed reading "Frankly We did win this election." by Michael Binder of the WSJ.
In all, I have read 4 of my 6 summer books to date. I still have two more to go, a book on Facebook and the biography of a character I knew personally: Robert Maxwell.
To be continued...

THE DREAM OF CINEMA-

THE DREAM OF CINEMA-
By Bernard Bujold -
It's currently The Canne Festival 2021 until July 17 which always makes me think of the Montreal World Film Festival and the legendary Serge Losique.
Montreal has had some great moments with Losique, moments comparable, in the good years, to those of the Festival de Canne. Losique knew all the movie stars and they all accepted his invitation to Montreal.
My favorite was Isabelle Adjani. She was the one who inspired me at the 2004 Festival to try my luck as an entrepreneur in social media when the internet was just starting. I loved that time and I've always been very grateful to Isabelle!

THE PASSING OF TIME... IN SILENCE

THE PASSING OF TIME... IN SILENCE -
By Bernard Bujold -
Every month, I learn, by chance, the death of friends or acquaintances who have been dead for two or three years already, sometimes longer...
This is a sad phenomenon, because despite our highly technological society, there is no way to learn about the end of the people we have known.
The last person whose death I have just learned of, on this Monday, July 12, 2021, is Murielle Fournier, a well-known Montreal journalist in the arts community who published Le Babillart, among other things. Murielle loved the arts and in particular the Montreal World Film Festival which she attended as a journalist for many years.
Murielle Fournier passed away in August 2019.

DONALD TRUMP IS BACK IN BUSINESS

DONALD TRUMP IS BACK IN BUSINESS…
By Bernard Bujold -
Donald Trump was the main speaker at the CPAC CONFERENCE 2021 (Sunday, July 11).
98% of the Republicans at the reunion think that Donald Trump did a great job as President and over 70% want him back in 2024.

STANLEY CUP 2021

STANLEY CUP 2021 -
By Bernard Bujold -
"It's never over until it's over..."
Montreal Canadiens fans got several miracles, but they will have missed three for their hockey club to win the legendary Stanley Cup won 4 wins to 1 by the Tampa Lightning.
It was an exciting playoff season especially after the months of confinement following the coronavirus.
Now we will have to forget the red and blue lucky coats and replace them with a black coat of mourning for the loss, but that's the way sports is. There is a winner and a loser.
Personally, I am saddened by the Canadiens' defeat, but I have some nice consolations.
First, a good ten or more Quebecers are part of the Tampa organization including players, coaches and other employees.
The second consolation is that the Tampa team is also in the state where my friend Donald Trump lives...
To be continued next season!

JUSTICE AND POLITICS

JUSTICE AND POLITICS
By Bernard Bujold -
The prosecution of Donald Trump's accountant in New York is reminiscent of the investigation here in Montreal into Denis Coderre and his driving phone.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL (EDITORIAL) considers that more and more U.S. law enforcement agencies are making prosecution decisions based on political allegiances.
Let's hope this trend doesn't take hold in Quebec or Canada...

MONTREAL IN 2021

MONTREAL IN 2021-
By Bernard Bujold -
The priorities of the City of Montreal are often bizarre...
For example, the Montreal police have conducted a very thorough investigation of a photo taken by a citizen of Denis Coderre using his cell phone while driving, an investigation that seems as serious as if it were, say, a murder or other violent crime. Several hours of analysis of the photo and research of information on the internet to confirm the evidence.
