THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA AND THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS

THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA AND THE MONTREAL MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS-
By Bernard Bujold -
There is a strong similarity between the current situation at the University of Ottawa and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Indeed, in both cases, the heads of the two institutions, Jacques Frémont in Ottawa and Michel de la Chenelière in Montreal, made a decision that seriously undermined their respective institutions. In the case of the MBAM, the consequences are well known and the two main players, de la Chenelière and Nathalie Bondil, lost their positions and the Museum lost the reputation for excellence it had around the world. In the case of Ottawa, my projection is that Rector Frémont will have to leave his position because of the current and worsening crisis; the young professor Verushka Lieutenant-Duval will have to change universities to teach; and the reputation of the University of Ottawa will be seriously tarnished around the world.
If there is one conclusion, it is that our institutions, even giant ones, can be destroyed overnight if leaders are not careful. In my opinion, Frémont and de la Chenelière are proof of this recklessness with devastating consequences!
Good luck to the survivors!

DONALD TRUMP 2020 - A RED WAVE

US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2020
By Bernard Bujold
The US Presidential Election is now two weeks away on November 3rd. According to the President Donald Trump, it will be a "RED WAVE"!
It will be what it will be but one must be ready and have the proper suit for a "RED WAVE" if one happens. A nice red tie with a dark blue suit.
And as the supporters say at the rallies: "WE LOVE TRUMP."

UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR - STAR OR PARIAH

STAR OR PARIAH
By Bernard Bujold -
Verushka Lieutenant-Duval, a young part-time art professor at the University of Ottawa, has become a world-renowned figure in the space of a few days. But has she become a star or a pariah?
Her crime, or the action that brought her to the forefront, having used the word "N...ger" to identify a concept in her course on art history?
Modern society is truly unpredictable. Star in the morning and pariah (monster) in the evening!
It even remains to be seen whether Rector Jacques Frémont will lose his position for having temporarily suspended the professor because two petitions are now circulating: one supporting the young teacher and criticizing the suspension; but another, from the student association, accusing the professors of racism and asking for very severe sanctions against them!
To be continued!

DONALD TRUMP SEE A RED WAVE

DONALD TRUMP SEE A RED WAVE
By Bernard Bujold -
« IT WILL BE A RED WAVE ON NOVEMBER 3rd...» say President Donald J. Trump.
Personally, I'm projecting 300 and more for Donald.
Two serious indications give me confidence:
1. Joe Biden says he's going to go teach at a University if he loses and he seems happy at the thought. It's always a bad sign when a candidate thinks about what he's going to do if he loses... ;
2. Donald spoke at his rally yesterday about an old trick we used in 1984 with Brian Mulroney. Make your opponent think he's leading the race when you're leading in the internal polls and on top of that you work tirelessly as if you're way behind. The result in 1984 was a total sweep by Brian. Donald and his team seem to be following the same strategy.
Stay tuned...

JUSTICE AMY CONEY BARRETT

JUSTICE AMY CONEY BARRETT
By Bernard Bujold -
When I was younger, I dreamed of being a lawyer, but I chose journalism and studying law remained a childhood dream. But the two professions, journalist and lawyer, are similar in that it takes a great sense of objectivity to reach the top.
I have never seen a jurist like Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Not only is she intelligent, but she has a rare objectivity in her arguments. I believe she will be a great Justice and the journalistic community would benefit from having people like Amy in her ranks.
Unfortunately, there is only one such person among a thousand!

GILBERT ROZON - VICTIM OR AGGRESSOR?

GILBERT ROZON - VICTIM OR AGGRESSOR?
By Bernard Bujold -
Two very realistic and very possible stories, but completely different! The question: which one is the real one? The evidence is now closed in the trial against Gilbert Rozon and the last round is scheduled for November 6th with closing arguments. The Judge will then announce the date of her verdict. To be continued...

AUTUMN RAIN AT THE LAKE

AUTUMN RAIN AT THE LAKE -
By Bernard Bujold -
The fall season of 2020 is special because of the confinement but nature continues to live with the seasons and if the colors of the forest are beautiful under the sun, walks on rainy days by the lake can also be beautiful and very spectacular.
Have a good fall 2020!

CARLA BRUNI LAUNCHES A NEW ALBUM -

CARLA BRUNI LAUNCHES A NEW ALBUM -
By Bernard Bujold - Carla Bruni has just released a new 13-song album and The Wall Street Journal magazine interviewed her about it and her life.
Her recording is beautiful (available on SPOTIFY) and the interview is captivating.
Carla says that she is applying in her life a piece of advice given to her by her grandmother and her husband Nicholas. "You should never worry about what is going to happen next because reality will always be different from what you envision. So you might as well wait to experience reality rather than worry about it".

CORONAVIRUS IN QUEBEC

CORONAVIRUS IN QUEBEC -
By Bernard Bujold -
I was surprised to note, according to the official website of the Government of Quebec, that the proportion of deaths per 1 million population is higher in Quebec than in the United States... In fact, Quebec ranks 2nd in the world just behind Spain which is in first place!
