THE ECONOMY IS BOOMING IN THE UNITED STATES
U.S. President Donald J. Trump was more than proud on Friday morning, June 5, 2020, when he learned that his country's economy was in growth mode.
The stock market reacted accordingly as the Dow Jones Industrial Average surpassed 27.110 at Friday's close.

THE AMERICAN WAR OF 2020

THE AMERICAN WAR OF 2020...
By Bernard Bujold-
The current war on the streets of America is a kind of repetition of the history of all North America since its inception!
Indeed, I was thinking about the deportation of the Acadians last night when I was thinking about the current American revolt. History repeats itself.
In the case of the Acadians, their colonization had lasted more than 150 years between their arrival from France in 1604 and the deportation in 1755, but during all that time, there was continuous warfare between France, England, the Americans, and the Acadians.
-The problem of the Acadians was that they didn't like guns and they didn't want to take sides and they just wanted to occupy their farms, which were however in the middle of the battlefield between the English and the French.
-The problem of the Americans was that half of the American settlers wanted to be independent of London and no longer pay royalties (British taxes) and the other half of the Americans who wanted to remain loyal to London had to flee to Canada which was under the rule of London.
-The problem of the British was that they had paid for the creation of the United States but they could not contain the revolt of their colonists. -The problem of France was financial and the country could no longer, nor did it want to, pay for its colony in North America, which is why France abandoned all its territories to the British, including Louisbourg and the territory of Acadia, which remained for London the only passage through the ocean from Europe to Canada because they had lost the passage through the United States. "
CONCLUSION- History in 2020 is repeating itself: it's a civil war all over North America!
Let us hope that more peaceful times await us tomorrow! This is the only way for the survival of mankind!

THE SHIP'S CAPTAIN

THE SHIP'S CAPTAIN...
By Bernard Bujold -
The line of polarization of our society has never been as marked as it is today, not only in the United States but even here in Canada and Quebec.
Just one look at my Facebook page allows me to see the division that drives us (with Facebook, the solution is easy, we erase insulting comments and it's over...), but in real life it's more complicated!
The political leader considered an idiot by one person is considered the savior by the other. This is the situation as much with Donald Trump as with Justin Trudeau or François Legault (and I'd add Horacio Arruda). For a person who admires each of our leaders, there is another who totally despises them!
What if you are on a "ship", in the middle of the ocean (or simply on the St. Lawrence River), with 100 passengers and 50 consider the captain an idiot; and the other 50 consider him a leader? Do you throw 50 of the passengers overboard? If so, then the question that becomes important and vital: which 50 passengers?
The situation is sad, but the world seems to be in the midst of a mutiny...
Personally, I'm in the 50% who consider Donald Trump a great leader and, I don't like to swim!
So: " what next "?

AMERICAN VIOLENCE ...

AMERICAN VIOLENCE ...
By Bernard Bujold -
American violence does not date from spring 2020!
Personally, I experienced my first contacts with American violence in the late 1970s when I started in journalism, in the Gaspé Peninsula, at the local television station in Carleton-sur-Mer (CHAU-TV).
Bold and young, I set out to spend a week of vacation in New York, a question of seeing the country...
My boss went there often and he had given me advice including the most important according to him: "Do not stop in Harlem, not even at red light. If you stop, they will loot your car, from hubcaps to the wipers! You can't avoid crossing Harlem if you want to go to Manhattan! So the secret: don't stop ..." he repeated to me twice.
The violence in New York decreased with Ed Koch mayor from 1978 to 1989, then the real turning point from 1994 to 2001 with mayor Rudolph Giuliani but, in 1976, it was terror...
I survived my weekend but I never forgot, and in June 2020, the events currently taking place in New York remind me of the time of my youth trip!
Conclusion: The more time passes, the more it is the same!

COMMIT YOURSELF, THEY SAID...

COMMIT YOURSELF, THEY SAID... -
By Bernard Bujold -
Quebec Premier François Legault's recruitment campaign for the CHSLDs is a success and even more so, and the offers far exceed the needs to be met. Over 70,000 applications had been received by early Wednesday (June 3, 2020) for the 10,000 positions to be filled and resumes will continue to come in...
It also seems that many of the applications would come from employees already working in the CHSLDs since the Prime Minister's offer is higher than their salary level...

BARACK OBAMA IS THE GUILTY ONE...

BARACK OBAMA IS THE GUILTY ONE...
By Bernard Bujold -
Barack Obama's failure to change America and racism, during his two terms as President of the United States, is increasingly seen as the reason for the crisis of violence that Americans and all of North America (including Quebec) are currently experiencing.
When he was elected in 2008, Barack Obama was seen as the savior of American history. But his election had never really been accepted by the white American population. Even Hillary Clinton believed in the drama of an assassination of Barack Obama, a few days before the 2008 vote. Clinton had cited the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy during the 1968 presidential campaign to explain why she remained in the race despite the difficulties. "We all remember that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California," Clinton told reporters. "I don't understand why I'm being asked to give up, because anything can happen," Clinton said.
Barack Obama was the first black President in the history of the United States and everywhere in the world people believed in the miracle but the modern "Jesus" could not change water into wine and in 2020 we are witnessing the fatal collision that had been brewing since 2008.
Barack Obama reminds me of Commander Picard in the recent novel Star Trek. Having failed in his mission to save a planet in the universe, Picard retires to planet earth with his dog to his farm in France, just as Obama retired with his family to his luxurious mansion at Martha's Vineyard.
Conclusion: In life, no miracle can be expected from any man, however gifted he may be!

DONALD TRUMP - A REAL MAN

DONALD TRUMP - A REAL MAN -
By Bernard Bujold -
The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, made a surprise visit to St. John's Episcopal Church on Lafayette Square in front of the White House on Monday, June 1, 2020, the day after the destruction by the fire set by rioters on Sunday night.
By doing such a symbolic walk, Donald Trump shown the type of man that he is in face of the adversity, a real man!

THE BARRICADES ON THE CITY OF MONTREAL (PART 1)

THE BARRICADES ON THE CITY OF MONTREAL -
By Bernard Bujold -
The merchants on Saint Catherine Street, the few who are still in business, are afraid and they started barricading the windows in the wake of the violence and thefts in stores, including Steve's Music, whose guitars were stolen by people running on the street.
The looters smashed the windows of several other stores on Saint Catherine Street between Berri and up to the old building Les Ailes de la Mode on Sunday evening, May 31, 2020.
The violence movement from the United States came to Montreal just as Occupy Wall Street had invaded Quebec in 2012 with the Red Squares. It's the 2012 vandalism that seems to start again and the whole city is in panic mode!
To be continued...
