What if Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois was as Francois Hollande and Jack Layton?

The Quebec student leader Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois reminds one of Jack Jayton and of the new French president Francois Hollande! 
Nobody seriously believed in Layton or Hollande. Yet both politicians won their bet!
What would happen if Nadeau-Dubois was running in the next Quebec provincial election with behind him a prospective student in each riding of Quebec? Presumably he would not become Prime minister even though all may happen once in track. But his presence would certainly divide the votes across the province and also one can believe that he would win few parliamentary seats out of the 125 positions. A scenario that obviously has no connection with reality today because this no election declared. But certainly, elections will necessarily be launched by December 2013 and Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois is a young man to watch ... 
He is on the cover of the magazine ACTUALITÉ in newsstands this Friday, May 11, 2012. 
According to me, students should create "The Students' Party" with Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois as Chief. It would be a kind of the NDP with Jack Layton as in 2011. I bet he would win a few if not several counties, as elections is like the lottery! The end result is always unpredictable ...

Quebec students and 2012 summer holidays ...

Normally at this time of year, Quebec students begin to prepare for the upcoming holiday season but not this year... Their school is not yet complete because of the strike! 
They should wait until the next election to decide on the issue of tuition and enjoy the summer in response to the call of the sea but this is not the case. 
The assessment of student protests is incredible! Hundreds of serious injuries since the beginning and that's not counting minor injuries or mild irritations to temporary gas or the many broken equipment at over 180 events since early February 13, 2012. And unfortunately the conflict is far from settled... 
The summer will not be relaxing and, come to think of it, it will be worth perhaps best to leave the boat in the garage!

Jean Charest and Quebec students ...

Jean Charest does not give signs of a great negotiator, especially when just after signing a draft agreement, he states that students will have to "find" the benefits promised in the contract... A little more and he would have said that he have sold the student a Christmas tree in the month of June! At least he should have shut up and quietly enjoy the Christmas tree! 
The contract with the students reminded me of my past personal negotiations with a literary editor, who later went bankrupt. We had to redo the signature of the author's contract by three times. The first time because he had entered a different name than mine on the header paper, the second time he had forgotten about my financial advance; and the third time he had put a name other than the publisher in middle of the text. It was not until the time of its bankruptcy that I realized that its strategy was to hand me a document that would have no value legal in cases of conflict. He had failed with me but was  successful with many other authors before and after me. The student conflict is not resolved but Quebecers and students will have to wait for the next provincial election to address it. A contract for the return to school has been signed and summer is upon us. Good summer vacation...

Conrad Black will be back in Canada / The story of a businessman and a journalist ...

Conrad Black will return to Canada since he obtained a temporary residence permit valid for one year. The release from prison of former media tycoon was made this Friday May 4 in Florida. 
I followed the career of the magnate Conrad Black since the late 70s when I was a young journalist in Quebec and later in the 90s when I was Assistant to the President of the Quebecor empire in Montreal. Conrad Black is himself a journalist in the depths of his soul and he has always enjoyed writing. The fact that he became a businessman is an accident in a way. I have read most of his works and he is a very detailed writer who uses history to illustrate his ideas. In a sense, it has the style of authors such as Henry Kissinger.
I always liked Black who I met in person two or three times, including once at the launch of his autobiography in Montreal. I invited Pierre Peladeau to accompany me but he refused. Peladeau and Black were in rivalry with one another to my great sadness because I admired and admire much the two individuals. 
In my view, the failure of Conrad Black happened because he was not focused on writing rather than business. He has the rare talent of the great journalists and he would have emerged as an international authority in this area. The path of Black makes me also think of the fictional character by Tom Wolfe: 'A Man in Full '. In this novel the financier loses his empire but will return in force to become a great preacher in the U.S.. I predict that Conrad Black will return in force and he will continue his career as a writer and reputed great journalist. Moreover, I specifically bought the National Post every weekend for the Black editorials always exciting and well developed...
In conclusion, I sincerely wishes a good and pleasant homecoming to Conrad Black.Welcome back to you and I hope to read you very often!

The debate between François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy is a draw ...

The debate between incumbent President Nicolas Sarkozy and the winner of the first round of French presidential elections, Francois Hollande has resulted in a draw! 
It could be given one point ahead to Holland who has stood before the skillful "debater" Sarkozy. During the discussion on the matter of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Hollande even has Sarko stunned when they both try to find out who knew DSK better of Sarko or Hollande... 
The final match will be held Sunday, May 6 while the second and final round of thepresidential elections 2012 will be held. Hollande would be ahead in the polls! Stay tuned!

The old lady Lise Thibault charged with fraud ...

Lise Thibault, the one who calls herself the "old lady" and who was Lieutenant Governor of Quebec from 1997 to 2007 (10 years), will undergo a fraud trial on May 28... 
What is unfair in this case is that "the old lady" bought gifts or held picnics paid by her expense account and that the people who took advantage of those "picnics" laugh today. Hundreds of thousands of guests, from across Quebec, should send a donation to help and, most importantly, return the gifts (artworks) that they received in the heyday from the Lieutenant Governor and which are still hanging in their living room today... 
Lise Thibault is 73 years old.
