THE SPIRIT OF DONALD TRUMP -

by Bernard Bujold -
Personally my favorite candidate in the race for the American presidency is Donald Trump... Trump for me, it's a virtual friend that I have known since the 1980s. I first discovered him in his father's biography and then in his own books.
His political project in 2016 is not what makes me admire him and, in a sense, his political campaign amuses me a little but Donald's presence and inspiration in my life story is for me what is for other the Beatles, Beethoven, Elvis Presley or the Dalai-Lama...
Philosophy and the professional example of Donald Trump were behind my efforts and my confidence in soliciting and obtaining my work with Brian Mulroney in Ottawa in 1984; and later with Pierre Péladeau father in 1991. In both cases, I was motivated in my actions by the model in my mind of the success and life of this American Donald Trump.
Will Donald win his bet for the US presidency? The race is on and we will know this summer in July and by 8 November at the general election. But whatever happens, I will continue to admire Donald Trump and he will always be present in my memory and in my success of life ...

DONALD TRUMP - HERO OR PARIAH

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1)-
Our society and its structures are fragile everywhere in the world and our hero of the day become too frequently the pariahs of tomorrow...
The political debate of the hour is, for many, the many provocative statements made by Donald Trump.
If Donald is elected next President of the United States, he will likely become a hero, but for now, he is considered a pariah that many love to hate. We love Donald or hate him. There is no gray area with the character.
Personally I like him!
I've never met in person but I've read all his books. Marketing that he applies to its current political campaign were already in the book: THE ART OF THE DEAL (1987). In his latest title: CRIPPLED AMERICA (2015) Chapter 13 is of particular interest (see page 127). His ideas are not different in 2015 than they were 30 years ago passed. The character is consistent and it is not an invention of the moment.
In fact, Donald Trump's speeches have always remember me those of Pierre Péladeau father for whom I had great admiration and I had much pleasure to know and be with. This kind of characters speak as they think. You could say they do not have filters like "politically correct" and also that they are provocative and drooling (bullies), but I prefer to say that they are "real".
These kind of characters are of course "dominant" and in life there are dominant and the dominated. All those who perform things in society are dominant from Pierre Péladeau to Donald Trump including all other from Steve Jobs to Mark Zuckerberg. I think of Donald Trump as a refreshing new style politicians and the masses seems to be in favor of this kind of character. We recognize in a Donald Trump the opposite of a career politician.
Does this kind of new politician will make a better world? It remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that we must change the direction of the world! Many of our leaders became too often in recent decades pariahs. I would say that we are due for some outcasts who will become heroes! To be continued...

LEADER OF LE PARTI QUÉBECOIS IN 2015 ...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
Members of the Parti Québécois will elect their next leader from Wednesday, May 13, 2015 and normally we will know the result on Friday night May 15 at 9 pm.
Personally, I am what could be called apolitical in the sense that I am not a member of any political party. I do not like the idea of a party but I favor political people according to their personality. When I supported Brian Mulroney in 1984 in Ottawa, it was not for his political party but because of his personality and what I considered an exceptional dynamism.
At the beginning of this PQ campaign, if I had been an active member of the party, my vote would have gone to Jean-François Lisée. He had the profile of a prime minister.
Currently, I deeply wish that Alexander Cloutier wins the race.
I get an average of one email a week since the announcement of the entry into politics of Pierre-Karl Péladeau, wondering why I am not supporting him since I was very close to his father for who I was Executive Assistant until the end of his life.  He even fell into a coma in front of me, on December 2, 1997, almost in my arms, on the floor of his office Quebecor...
I loved the man who was Pierre Péladeau (the father) and we had a very profound loyalty towards each other.
Pierre Péladeau died officially on December 24, 1997 and on January 5, 1998, Quebecor's new senior management immediately thanked me for my services with the clear and precise message that they did not want to see me around anywhere in the enterprise.
I was deeply sad by this...
In addition, it was the Quebec ice storm...
The darkness and the cold of the New Year; the death of my mentor; and becoming an unemployed!
In the months after my dismissal from Quebecor, people that I knew closely, including a leader of a large Quebec company (from the Quebec Inc), told me that Jean Neveu the new CEO of Quebecor would have contacted them to denigrate me and to suggest not to hire me.
I checked this by Jean Neveu and he said, smiling, that he had the right to express his opinion and if I was not happy, just to sue him...
At the time, I did not want to spend money for lawyers in justice nor to pay to gather evidence because I thought it was better to look forward. But it was clear that others were investing efforts to monitor me (probably a private detective) because as soon as I went to a new potential employer interview, someone contacted them immediately. It was like if they were following me on track and that they were trying to prevent me from working!
I finally got an inescapable proof once and it was well documented because I got a job...
I got in early 2001 as a press attaché precisely with the government of Bernard Landry that I had known earlier when I was with Pierre Péladeau (the father). I had discreetly negotiated and when I started working, nobody really knew it. I started on a Monday morning (April 11, the date of birth of Pierre Péladeau...) but at 3 pm on the same day, the chief of staff invited me into her office saying she was sorry because she had just received a call from someone and if the Landry government kept me in the staff, it would do him trouble in the media ...
The chief of staff told me that the order to fire me was coming from executives at Quebecor by means of a large PR agency in Montreal and, after bringing the matter to his attention, Bernard Landry said that he did not want to get involved...
She had no choice to do otherwise! - she repeated to me!
Later in time, early 2003, when I published my biography of Pierre Péladeau, my friend Michel Vastel told me that a senior officer at Quebecor asked him to try to get a copy before publication of the book I was writing about the father of PKP. Michel had refused the request by replying to the person asking that he was not playing this kind game, especially not with a former journalist like me, and worse, he knew me personally.
In short, if I do not support PKP the son, it is because I have my personal reasons!
The beauty of democracy is, however, that everyone is entitled to one vote.
If you are not happy with the result, you have a choice: change of city, province or country; or accept the outcome and live with the choice of the majority.
If ever Pierre Karl Péladeau became Premier of Quebec one day, I will have plenty of time to change territory but we are not yet at this result!
To be continued ... and good luck Alexandre Cloutier!

PIERRE KARL PÉLADEAU AND QUEBEC POLITICS

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1) -
The political climate in Quebec may return to the atmosphere from 1995 to the time when the referendum occupied all the media and public space. It will be recalled that the clans baffles were deep and harsh. One was for or against, but never neutral!
Today in 2014, we can already feel, and increasingly around the path of Pierre-Karl Peladeau, that cleavage is being established again between the pro-independence and pro-federalists in Quebec.
I have already started receiving several calls in private or on my various social websites, reminding me that I should or I should not, support the son of Pierre Peladeau in his new political project for independence. Some of my correspondents are strongly in favor of PKP, others are deeply against him. Many are also quite curious about the secrets that I might have about the son of the founder of Quebecor...
First let me be clear that I am not an enemy of PKP, nor his friend. So I look at his journey from the stands.
I have always said that Pierre-Karl Peladeau is smarter than the average person and has successfully established himself in the management of Quebecor although those who had taken the place of Pierre Peladeau after his death did not want to give him the power. I am thinking of the old guard like Jean Neveu and Charles Albert Poissant. This is also in this war that I found myself when just days after the death of Pierre Peladeau, Jean Neveu had summoned me to his office to confirm that he wanted absolutely no business with me at the "new" Quebecor! Not even to take care of the parking garage...
There's the part of the story about my little secret, among others, for the curious!
Now on Pierre-Karl Peladeau, if I had been PKP, it is certain that I would have stayed in the management of Quebecor because he was the boss at a private empire. He chose politics and there is a whole world between business and politics. His father refused to solicit printing contracts with the government and he often said that democracy had nothing to do with business.
I could see that for myself when I entered his service. I arrived from Ottawa being with Brian Mulroney. In politics, we get up in the morning and our agenda is influenced by the media and the news of the day. In business, the agenda is controlled by the one who owns the door handles...
In politics, journalists always want to show that what the politician says is false; in business, journalists usually publish without questioning the company press releases.
But the son of the founder of Quebecor decided to get into the political arena and he will fight. It will be a very exciting event to watch because PKP is in as aspiring champion. A high-level sports competition is always an enjoyable event to follow.
As for my secret about PKP and Quebecor, it is the Omerta, at least for now...

QUEBEC ELECTION 2014 - The Godfather from the movies

Bernard Bujold ( LeStudio1.com ) -
I received phone calls from 4 or 5 journalists (1 francophone and 4 anglophones... ) all asking me what I think about the candidacy of Pierre-Karl Peladeau, given that I knew him when I was an executive assistant to his father.
My answer is a like a tape...
"I consider PKP to be a person highly skilled in business and if I compare father and son, both are like the characters from movies The Godfather by Puzo. Pierre Peladeau was a sort of Don Corleone (crimes less) as everyone loved and regarded him as a father figure. Pierre Peladeau motivated his employees by his simple moral support and a good word of encouragement.
Pierre Karl Peladeau is a colder manager and my experience with him is that of a leader who motivate people to do their best because one is afraid of him, rather than admiration. PKP is a bit like in temperament as Michael (Pacino) in the movie The Godfather (crimes less, always of course... ) .
In financial terms, Pierre Peladeau ran a family business while PKP is a manager of large corporation.
Journalists asked me if PKP has always been a nationalist ?
I do not know but I think he believes that he has all qualities and skill that Marois, Drainville or Lisée might have and he said to himself why not try my luck to become Premier of Quebec one day? The challenge is not so extraordinary in itself, nor inaccessible.
He could have chosen the Liberal Party but he have a better play with the PQ as the left sees in him a kind of savior from the right. A kind of defender for less well off financially while he is a rich one. This is the figure of the hero Batman from Gotham City or Robin Hood. The bad ones beings here for the PQ and activists, the English from the rest of Canada (ROC).
What is however surprising is the presence of PKP in team with sovereignty as his mentor and best friend is a former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, who considered himself the spiritual brother of Paul Desmarais. Mulroney was also a great friend of the father of PKP, Pierre Peladeau. One might think that Brian Mulroney supported PKP to take revenge against Stephen Harper who humiliated him and cons those who have failed Meech Lake, but I have fun here thinking aloud, without any ground with the real situation...
Will PKP win his bet ?
We'll see on April 7th !
Will I am going to support him ?
I have not talked intimately to PKP since the death of his father in December 1997... "
End of the tape !
We'll see later, but it is obvious that the candidacy of Pierre Karl Peladeau is the star, not of the Parti Québécois but as a whole to the election. It is no longer a struggle against a Pauline Marois and a Philippe Couillard but rather separatists against the federalists. The current campaign is more than a campaign to elect a provincial government to manage a budget and service programs but there was a deep struggle with forces that are much more serious and powerful than those displayed publicly.
People want to elect the future Godfather of Quebec ...
