THE PASSING OF TIME...

THE PASSING OF TIME…
By Bernard Bujold -
After a little over two years, the murder case of Daniel Langlois and his partner Dominique Marchand in Dominica has reached a key milestone in the legal proceedings. On April 14, the two main suspects, Jonathan Lehrer (57) and Robert Snider Jr. (62), officially pleaded not guilty before the High Court of Dominica. The legal proceedings began on May 1, 2026, with the next steps, including the trial schedule before a judge and jury. Despite repeated attempts by the defense to secure bail, the two men have remained behind bars since the two murders in December 2023. The atmosphere around the courthouse is very tense, as the local community holds the couple in immense respect for their involvement in the island’s reconstruction following a hurricane. The investigation suggests that the victims were murdered before their vehicle was set on fire, a criminal act that reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a right-of-way on the road leading to the Langlois couple’s hotel, the Coulibri Ridge.
Daniel Langlois was well known in Quebec, first for his company SOFTIMAGE and later for his restaurant and private club, 357C, which made headlines during the Charbonneau Commission of Inquiry into corruption and collusion in the Quebec construction industry.
To be continued.

THE PASSING OF TIME

THE PASSING OF TIME...
By Bernard Bujold -
Another institution has just announced its demise: the skating rink in Montreal's Old Port, inaugurated in December 1992. Personally, now an old man, it's been a few years since I stopped frequenting the place - in fact, I'd given my skates away to Renaissance... As I got older, I didn't like the cold, so I didn't like skating anymore!
I'm told there's a new outdoor skating rink on Ste-Catherine Street, and it's very popular...
Happy end of winter 2025!
