If I had been Mark Carney's political strategist, as I was during the Brian Mulroney era in 1984, I would have recommended not paying to take part in the TVA debate... In the end, TVA's Face-à-Face was canceled after the Liberal Party refused to pay the $75,000 demanded by Pierre Karl Péladeau's television network... The other three main political parties had agreed, even though the bill caused deep unease. This concept of paying for a debate reminds me of newlyweds asking to pay for the hot dog buffet to attend their wedding...
Mark Carney seems to be applying political strategies that I would suggest. Next thing, he'll be asking me to advise him...
