LIFE GOES ON...

LIFE GOES ON...
By Bernard Bujold-
In the spring of 2025, two major events took place on Tuesday, April 29: the confirmation of Mark Carney as Prime Minister of Canada and the “First 100 days” of power for U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
We can recognize that these two events have brought and will bring life changes...
But let's never forget that life, by definition, is fundamentally about change!
The key to success: adapt. Have a great spring!

MARK CARNEY IS THE NEW PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA...

MARK CARNEY IS CANADA'S NEW PRIME MINISTER...
By Bernard Bujold -
The least we can conclude is that the champion horse didn't dominate the end of the race, and it was a photo finish...
Mark Carney is the Prime Minister, but without a majority. At the close of the count, Carney had 169 seats to Pierre Poilièvre's 144, and 22 for the Bloc. Even more dramatically, Poilièvre was not elected in his riding, and the NDP was almost eliminated with 7 MPs...
In conclusion, I'm not going out without my dark glasses, having projected +200 for Carney. I was wrong! I should be happy about Mark's victory, but I'm sad to have failed in my projection...
As for the horses, they're back at their stables, including the champion...

I VOTED...

I VOTED...
By Bernard Bujold -
It's done, I voted for my champion horse... I hope I've won my bet! The champion horse will move into a magnificent castle in Ottawa, while the others will return to their stables...

THE VOTING DAY FOR FEDERAL ELECTION - CANADA 2025...

VOTING DAY - CANADA 2025 -
By Bernard Bujold -
I love a voting day and for me it's a pleasure like going to a party, a trip to the country,
or a horse race...
I don't like to vote in advance, because that would be like opening a present before the holiday...
Long live the 2025 federal election, and long live Canada's next Prime Minister!

An election campaign is like a horse race, and the challenge is discovering the champion horse...

THE ROAD TO VICTORY

THE ROAD TO VICTORY -

By Bernard Bujold -

Mark Carney is assured of victory next Monday, April 28, but the question is by how much?

The Bloc Québécois is holding steady in the polls at around 22 MPs compared with 33 at the dissolution... If the Bloc loses more, it will be a direct gain for the Liberals, who currently stand at around 192 according to the polls. The Bloc's losses could push the Liberals over 200 MPs.

Among the dramatic possibilities: Pierre Poilièvre, Jagmeet Singh, and even Yves-François Blanchette could lose in their own ridings...

THE NEXT POPE

WHO WILL SUCCEED POPE FRANCIS?
The last time the Catholic Church’s cardinals picked a pope, they wanted an outsider to overhaul a scandal-plagued Vatican. They got more of a disrupter in Pope Francis than many had bargained for.
What will it be now?

CANADA 2025 VOTING DAY APPROACHES

CANADA 2025 VOTING DAY APPROACHES...
By Bernard Bujold -
There's less than a week to go before the day of the Canadian election for a new Prime Minister on Monday, April 28. Even though I live in a parliamentary system, I always vote as if I were in a presidential system. In other words, I never vote for the MP, but for the leader...

THE MAGIC OF CHOCOLATE

THE MAGIC OF CHOCOLATE...
By Bernard Bujold -
The three companions were transformed into chocolate for one day, Easter 2025, by the magic of the god of gastronomy (Dionysus)...
Dionysus (Greek mythology) is the god of festivities, often associated with banquets and the festive aspect of gastronomy, like chocolate...
Happy Easter and long live chocolate!

A FAMILY DINNER - PART 2

FAMILY DINNER - VERSION 2 -
By Bernard Bujold -
The English-language debate between Canada's four political leaders was a replay of the previous evening's French-language family dinner (debate). It was a living room discussion on the day's various topics between family members. My conclusion is the same as the French debate: the discussion won't change anything in the 2025 election campaign.
For this reason, I stand by my prediction of a 200+ seat victory for Mark Carney on April 28.

A FAMILY SUPPER

A FAMILY SUPPER...
Par Bernard Bujold -
The French-language debate between Canada's four political leaders was not a battle, but rather a sort of family supper on a Sunday evening, with the guests discussing a variety of topics without much consequence... Clearly, the French-language debate did nothing to change voters' minds. Mark Carney acted as a polite guest and was respected by the other guests. Personally, I predict that Mark Carney will win over 200 seats on April 28. I recommend buying the Mark Carney figurine, as it will surely become a collector's item...
You'll have to watch the English debate this Thursday at 7 pm.
