MICHEL CÔTÉ (1950-2023)-
By Bernard Bujold -
I met and chatted with Michel Côté once in real life, at one of the launches of the series Omerta, la loi du silence, in 1996.
My impression was that he loved the world, wasn't a snob, and knew his business inside out!
In March 2022, he sold his house in Outremont and moved next door to my neighborhood. I didn't run into him very often, as his illness was diagnosed almost at the same time and he had become discreet. I'd see him a few times on walks, wearing his cap...
Life is unfair, and on Monday May 29 in the spring of 2023, we lost a great Quebecer!
But what I wrote recently about the tragedy at the Monastère du Bon-Pasteur also applies to Michel Côté: "The tragedy at the Monastère du Bon-Pasteur is a great bereavement, but it brings us back to the inescapable reality of life. Nothing is immortal except the memory, and even then, with time, we forget even the memories.
In conclusion, we must make the most of the present moment... "
