If I had a prediction to make about social media, I would say that we are currently experiencing the birth of a new formula that is also, in a sense, a return to basics, but the solution to virtual violence.
In the early days of the Internet and home computers in the 1990s, the formula was simple: viewing text and photo content. Then came the email that was copied from the letters to the post: Hotmail 1996; Yahoo Mail 1997; Gmail April 2004.
In February 2004, Facebook proposed a formula for exchanging comments between Internet users and Twitter followed in March 2006. Gradually the violence was installed in these two social media because the general public could comment in front of all other Internet users about the content published online by artists, politicians or all the known and unknown of this world.
Today in May 2021, we can say that Donald Trump has found the solution to all this virtual violence with his new website with no room for public comments. One can view the content of his ideas published online but without approving or insulting them, except by private email message.
I predict that this return to the roots of internet communication is the future and the end of violence between internet users.
It is also the beginning of the end of Facebook and Twitter in the current format.
To be continued...
