THE SHORT HISTORY OF MONTREAL RADIO -

On June 25, 1998, Jean-Pierre Coallier founded Radio Classique. This station broadcasted only classical music and was inspired by a similar project in France. 
Jean-Pierre Coallier had a lot of fun with his project, but in 2015, he sold out to artist Gregory Charles.
Gregory couldn't keep the project going, and in June 2020, he sold to a group from Quebec, two brothers from the Leclerc cookie family. They couldn't keep the project going either, and now they'll be broadcasting the programming of a Quebecor internet radio station... 
It's back to where it all began... 
In 1995, Jean-Pierre Coallier was looking for shareholders for his project and approached Quebecor. He wanted a financial investment of one million dollars and access to the various artistic contents of Quebecor media. Pierre Péladeau refused the invitation. 
But in 2024, his son, Pierre-Karl, accepted the proposal. We're a long way from classical music but still on the radio, and with the added bonus of tea cookies...

X Twitter owner Elon Musk managed to thwart hackers who wanted to prevent his virtual discussion with Donald Trump on the X Twitter network.

In the end, Monday evening, August 12, 2024, was a wonderful evening, and we can conclude that the two men, Elon Musk and Donald Trump, are friends!

Elon is even considering joining Donald's team of economic advisors, if Trump is elected on November 5.

THE INTERNET VIOLENCE IN QUEBEC...

One might think that violence is a story for foreign countries, such as Russia, Israel, or the United States. Well, this violence also exists in Quebec... 
One of my seemingly mild-mannered Facebook contacts recently posted the following message about Donald Trump: 
"The orange man is a unique vermin he must be wiped off the slate of life as of November 5". 
 This is a translation of his writing in French: 
 "L’homme orange est une vermine unique il faut l’effacer de l’ardoise de la vie dès le 5 novembre »
Clearly, this is a verbal death threat, and if the guy lived in the U.S., rather than Montreal, the authorities would be alerted to his case. 
Here in Canada, we've seen several social media threats against Justin Trudeau, and the RCMP has prosecuted the perpetrators. Recently, journalist Sophie Durocher testified in court about death threats against her on the Internet. 
Virtual verbal violence has become frequent and dangerous. 
Regarding my Facebook contact, I've warned him to stop making this kind of threat, which is totally illegal. Will he stop? To be continued!

One could compare American political life to a bingo with the black marbles totally on one side of the bowl, and the white marbles on the other. In other words, polarization... 
That's what's happening right now in the United States. We can also conclude that the marbles in Donald's half are glued together. Donald can't go any lower in the polls because his supporters are untouchable and won't change their minds. On the other hand, Kamala can only go down, and her comeback after Joe Biden's departure wasn't strong enough. She should have risen above 50% and Donald should have fallen below 40%. A 47%-47% tie is a bad sign for a title contender, whether in sports or politics. 
Also, the choice of Tim Waltz as running mate of Harris will have done nothing to please a Democratic decision-maker like Barack Obama, who is a close friend and great supporter of Josh Shapiro!

THE POLARIZATION OF THE PLANET IN 2024-

Don't think that polarization is a recent invention of Donald Trump... 
You only have to look back in history to see that humanity has always been polarized. In the past, there was no CNN or Fox News and the population was more isolated. Still, polarization was present in the organized life of cities, villages, or countries and, because of isolation, there was much more physical violence. 
Polarization means that one half is opposed to the projects of the other half, but how do you decide? Polarization is like a ship at sea with a crew that wants to go in two different directions... Ultimately, the boat will end up on an island or a beach, but which one? And how can the losing half find happiness in the winning half's choice? It's impossible because defeat is misfortune in itself! 
We must however never hold on to defeat, but rather wait for the day when the situation will be reversed. If there's one thing we can be sure of, nothing lasts forever! If polarization is inevitable, history shows us, time and time again, that today's winner will be tomorrow's loser!
