THE BEAUTY OF SUMMER 2022 -

THE SEASON OF DECISIONS -

THE SEASON OF DECISIONS...
By Bernard Bujold-
There are still two full months left in the 2022 summer season, but at the speed of time we will soon be in the fall (September 23) and it will be time to choose...
The first decision, for some people including myself, will be to choose before September 10th between my friend Jean Charest or Pierre Poilièvre. The advantage is in favour of Poilièvre, but Charest is sparing no effort to stop the momentum of his opponent for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.
The second decision in the early fall of 2022 will be on October 3, this time for all Quebecers, when we must choose the Premier of the province. François Legault totally dominates the race and in my opinion he is the logical choice, but Éric Duhaime could be the surprise horse that completely changes the finish line.
Finally, my personal passion will be in November when the American Republican Party seriously threatens to take back the majority in both Congress and the Senate. Such an outcome would be a table set for my idol Donald Trump's comeback in 2024. In the mid-term elections to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives (US Congress) and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested.
Have a good summer 2022 and rest well, because the fall will be busy, very busy... https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=bernard.bujold&set=a.10166540845540541

ADVENTURES AT THE GYM

ADVENTURES AT THE GYM...
By Bernard Bujold -
I've been going to the gym every day since I was 14 years old when my inspiration was Ben Weider, who would become my friend during the last years of his life. Ben and his brother Joe were the ones who sponsored Arnold Schwarzenegger's immigration to the United States.
Going to a gym often leads to all kinds of adventures!
For me, I currently attend a gym that is open to a group of about 100 residents in the same building. It's more private than a mall gym, but the difference is sometimes small...
For example, during the entire coronavirus crisis, reservations had to be made the day before for a one-hour individual use period the following day. Since the gym was open from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m., with 15 minutes of air time between each period, there was a maximum possibility of 14 daily reservations. The lines in front of the security guard when the reservation book was opened were a sight to behold. As one resident noted, it was like being at a Club Med restaurant!
After the facility returned to normal and the reservations were out in April 2022, strangely enough, no one asked to use the gym anymore, whereas during the months of reservations, people were constantly complaining about the lack of availability and fighting to reserve the time they preferred.
But the difficulties did not stop and out of the 20 or so people who continued to use the gym, recently in the spring, a couple of users wanted to work out with the lights off and prevent those who came after them from turning on the lights! The couple said that they wanted to meditate by practicing in the dark. The management had to write a new rule stating that the lights in the gym were installed to turn them on!
My last adventure was a little more difficult to manage and I had to use my own imagination.
A user, who likes to work out on the treadmill at the same time as me, around noon, uses a perfume that I really don't like... You can't tell someone that their perfume smells bad, because perfume smells are a matter of personal taste! The solution: I went back to wearing a covid mask to block the smell!
Of course, there are several training partners who are fun to be around and with whom it's a pleasure to share a moment with and not everything is a problem at the gym, otherwise I would have changed my routine.
In the end, I always try not to get into too many physical fights, especially if the unpleasant users are bigger than me, and I share my shelter, willingly or unwillingly...
And to compensate for the sometimes difficult days of adventures in the gym, I allow myself a period of relaxation in the garden of the manor, set up just in front of the gym, with its pond and its fountain!
As the English say: "It is what it is..." - (That's what life is!)
Have a good summer 2022 and good training!

ULYSSE ON GILLIGAN'S ISLAND... (departure)

ULYSSE ON GILLIGAN'S ISLAND...
By Bernard Bujold -
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved water and boats. For me, the sea, a lake, a river, or a simple fountain represents life! And every time I visit a marina, in the back of my mind, I always have this image that comes to me from the TV series Gilligan and his crew on their island (1964-1967)!
Let's enjoy the summer of 2022, especially since since 2020, the use of water bodies, marinas or islands was sometimes difficult!
Have a good summer 2022, and a good mid-July weekend!

JULY 14, 2022 FRENCH HOLIDAY

JULY 14, 2022 FRENCH HOLIDAY -

Happy National Day to all my French friends...

RESTAURANTS IN THE SUMMER OF 2022-

RESTAURANTS IN THE SUMMER OF 2022-
By Bernard Bujold -
With the summer season of 2022, comes also the beautiful season for restaurants whose survival has not been easy since the virus of March 2020.
Personally, there was a time, between the 1980s and 2010, when I frequented restaurants between 3 to 4 times a week... But I usually only went to one restaurant, which I loved, the McDonald's chain. I even told a friend that if I had to choose one last meal before I died, it would be two delicious Big Macs with a coke...
Note that my love for McDonald's was started long before 2016 when I became a fan and defender of Donald Trump, also a very big lover of McDonald's...
Unfortunately, as we get older, at least as far as I'm concerned, we become kind of "healthy" and try to eat, let's say more "broccoli" and more home cooking... It is however for me a very hard sacrifice and I suffer deeply every time I pass a McDonald's but I am very disciplined! At most, some days when I can't resist going in, a tea or a coffee for me while I offer a Big Mac and fries to my faithful Ulysses and watch him enjoy the feast...
Happy summer 2022!
