POLITICAL SURVEYS

POLITICAL SURVEYS -
By Bernard Bujold- -
Many of my friends are trying to convince me that Pablo Rodriguez's political future is over and that Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon will be Quebec's next premier...
I disagree, and my only argument is the one involving Pierre Poilièvre! At Christmas last year (December 24, 2024) Poilièvre was leading the polls at 44% to Justin Trudeau's Liberals' 26%. On April 28, 2025 (4 months later in the spring), Mark Carney became Liberal Prime Minister with 43.7% of the vote (170 seats) against 41.3% for the Conservatives, and Pierre Poilievre, who saw himself as Prime Minister at Christmas, had lost his seat as an MP... This is why, in my opinion, in 2026, everything is unpredictable when it comes to the October 5 election result in Quebec.
A political situation can change radically in just a few weeks and, for that reason, I don't believe that Pablo's career is over any more than I'm convinced that Paul Saint Pierre Plamondon is assured of victory. At the end of the day, even François Legault could win the election if something were to happen. Pierre Poilièvre is living proof of my reasoning!
Stay tuned!

PABLO RODRIGUEZ AND THE HORSES

PABLO RODRIGUEZ AND HORSES...
By Bernard Bujold -
Pablo Rodriguez's situation could be compared to a horse race! If the challenge for bettors in a race is to predict the winning horse in advance, it's becoming increasingly difficult for political observers to predict who will be the next Premier of Quebec, in the race of October 5, 2026, and who will have a place in a luxury stable... On paper, Pablo Rodriguez was expected to win easily ahead of the three other contenders, François Legault, Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon and Éric Duhaime. But, as in sports racing, horses are often unpredictable...
If current Premier Legault projects the image of a tired old horse (at the bottom of the polls), Plamondon looks like an overly nervous horse (the referendum); Duhaime doesn't have the stature of a champion (two electoral failures), and the favorite Rodriguez sometimes seems to show shortcoming (he doesn't have the instinct to distrust those around him). Pablo has taken appropriate action by eliminating Marwah Rizqy from the caucus and proposing to rehire Geneviève Hinse. But the race continues to move forward, the other contenders are close behind, and Pablo is not the frontrunner...
If I were Pablo's advisor, I'd be very happy with the gestures he's just made, but he mustn't give his opponents any space. I repeat that he must take inspiration from Donald Trump and be authoritarian in his leadership. The other piece of advice, just as Donald does, is for Pablo to surround himself with people in whom he has total confidence and who admire him. In life, both political and private, loyalty is essential for survival.
For those who are interested, Donald loves a horse race and in particular, the winning horse...
To be continued...

THE TIME THAT PASSES...

THE TIME THAT PASSES...
By Bernard Bujold -
I'm continually amazed at the transformations, sometimes too rapid, in everyday life, thanks to the technological advances of Artificial Intelligence (AI). I'm a huge fan of AI (GROK, GEMINI, META, PERPLEXITY, ADOBE FIREFLY, etc.), but this week, my reality has nothing to do with Artificial Intelligence, and I experienced a situation as old as time.
Looking at photos sent by my two granddaughters, who are on vacation in the Bahamas with their father, something clicked in my old man's mind... My two granddaughters have become teenagers aged 13 and 10, even though it comforts me to believe that they are still little kids playing with dolls...
Time doesn't stand still, and children live their lives without waiting for us, just like the ocean waves on the beach, in the Bahamas, or anywhere else...

THE SANTA'S ELVES - 2025

SANTA'S ELVES ARE IN TOWN -
By Bernard Bujold -
As he does every year on December 1, Santa has brought out his spacecraft to take the three elves to their friends, Ulysses, Argos, and Gus, for a visit. It's not going to be a relaxing month of December... This year, in 2025, Santa has a brand-new TESLA spaceship, a generous gift from Elon Musk, a close personal friend of Santa... Santa loves riding around in a vehicle that drives itself!
