THE NEW ECONOMY OF THE YEAR 2026

THE NEW ECONOMY OF THE YEAR 2026-
By Bernard Bujold -
Every new year also brings changes in the economy and lifestyle. If in the 1990s it took 10 years for a new model to dominate, in today's time, it is a question of months... In 2026, Artificial intelligence will be the center, and one entrepreneur who will probably dominate is Elon Musk. What distinguishes Elon Musk is not simply success, wealth, or ambition. He appears to be operating under a fundamentally different set of rules. Traditional comparisons to Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, Gates, or Bezos miss the point. Those figures were optimized within a single industry during periods when capital, information, and competition moved slowly.
Musk, by contrast, is operating simultaneously across multiple capital-intensive and foundational sectors of the global economy. At 53, Musk has already built companies that dominate automobiles, space launch, satellite communications, artificial intelligence, robotics, and energy systems. Speed is not a byproduct of Musk’s strategy. It is the strategy! À
FORBES magazine publishes a fascinating analysis of Musk's business strategy.

THE QUIET OF SOLITUDE

 THE QUIET OF SOLITUDE -
 By Bernard Bujold -
After the hectic atmosphere of Christmas 2025, it's the quiet of solitude (and the cold) before the New Year 2026 gathering... Goodbye 2025 and welcome to New Year 2026.
Let's not forget that life is always unpredictable, despite all our efforts at planning. To be continued... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10173252682765541&type=3

HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2026

THE CHRISTMAS PARTY 2025 -
 by Bernard Bujold -
Every year, the Christmas party represents a reunion with family and friends. In 2025, however, with artificial intelligence, we can transform the party by bringing together, virtually, people we love, but who can't be with us in the real world...
Personally, I've brought together for this year's Christmas Eve, in my virtual universe, three characters who are sources of inspiration for me. They are Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Mark Carney. Note that, in reality, elsewhere on the planet, these three virtual guests really do exist, and this existence creates in me a profound happiness of the soul. To live in the same era as these three characters is a great joy for me!
In the end, life is an illusion. Happiness, like unhappiness, is a perception, and nothing lasts... For some people, Christmas is a sad time because of loneliness, lack of financial resources, family quarrels, illness, and so on. With the virtual, reality becomes something else...
In addition to my three special virtual guests from 2025, the evening also included the traditional three elf friends and their Santa, who had travelled all the way from the North Pole in his Tesla space vehicle. At the stroke of midnight, the elves returned with Santa to the North Pole in the Tesla...
Of course, the party was also attended by the three mascots, Argos, Ulysse, and Gus, my faithful and valiant daily companions! MERRY CHRISTMAS 2025, in the real, as in the virtual!
Note: I was surprised by the price of the turkey purchased at a real public market (Atwater). Almost $100 for a 5 kg turkey... My virtual friend Donald was shocked by such a price and suggested that I should have entertained my guests with McDonald's...

THOUGHTS FOR CHRISTMAS 2025

THOUGHTS FOR CHRISTMAS 2025-
By Bernard Bujold -
Christmas is fundamentally a religious celebration where everyone reflects in their own way on the year that is coming to an end. Many of us, including me, are not churchgoers, but that doesn't stop us from visiting places of worship to reflect... The elves and I went to Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral in Montreal to communicate with the universe.
This Christmas 2025, I have three thoughts:
 1. A first one for those who experienced great joy in 2026, including a friend who will be receiving her new car on Christmas Eve.
 2. I'll also be thinking of those who experienced misfortune in 2025, including my neighbor. One Sunday in August (August 17), she was at her church when she was told that the sprinklers in her condo had just gone on. She will spend Christmas in a hotel, as the insurance company has not yet repaired her condo.
 3. Finally, my third thought is for the unexpected. Nothing lasts forever! Keep in mind that nothing lasts and resists the passage of time, neither misfortune nor joy.
With this concept in mind, I wish you a happy holiday season in 2025... https://www.lapresse.ca/actualites/chroniques/2025-12-21/43-jours.php

THE ART OF FRANÇOIS LEGAULT

THE ART OF FRANÇOIS LEGAULT...
By Bernard Bujold -
François Legault has everything but romance... and loyalty! The departure of his minister Christian Dubé is totally in line with the behavior and personality of Legault, whose behavior has never changed since his professional beginnings with Air Transat in 1986.
The period with Air Transat (1986-1997) was a landmark one for François Legault, who built his reputation as a successful entrepreneur and gained financial independence before the age of 40. However, his departure in 1997 was fraught with conflict. In February 1997, during a trip to Paris, Legault quarreled with his partner Jean-Marc Eustache over development strategy, particularly expansion into Europe. Legault felt that the company was “going nowhere”, and decided to sell his shares abruptly without warning his partners. This sale causes Transat's stock price to plummet (from nearly $13 to around $4 in a few weeks), sending shockwaves through the aviation community. Jean-Marc Eustache, co-founder and CEO of Transat until 2021, is deeply affected by this sudden departure, perceived as a betrayal and cavalier abandonment. Eustache has always refused to speak to Legault again, and the two men remain estranged to this day. This break-up is often cited by Legault's critics to call into question his reliability and loyalty. Transat has even refused interview requests on the subject, and a book commissioned for the company's 25th anniversary (in 2010) was never published, possibly as a result. Despite this, Legault describes his departure as a personal achievement (financial independence) and denies any lingering animosity on his side, claiming it was the only major conflict of his career. The episode did, however, leave its mark on his image as a pragmatic businessman, often accused of impetuosity.
But in the end, a true leader must be neither sentimental nor romantic. According to this definition, François Legault can be described as a great leader, and for this reason, he could be re-elected in October 2026...

THE ART OF POLITICS

THE ART OF POLITICS -
By Bernard Bujold -
The art of politics involves three worlds that must merge to achieve success. The first world is the politician's convictions, which he must set aside to join the second world, which is the perception of his target voters. Finally, a good politician must take into account the third world, that of his opponents, to better surpass them.
U.S. President Donald Trump has mastered all three worlds. In Quebec, the current Premier, François Legault, strikes a balance among the three worlds, but Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon does so to a lesser extent, clinging to a referendum option. Meanwhile, Pablo Rodriguez is a good person, but he lacks the qualities of a successful politician. In Ottawa, Mark Carney masters all three worlds to an admirable degree, even better than my friend Trump.
That said, to all a happy holiday season 2025!

PABLO'S FEAR

PABLO'S FEAR -
By Bernard Bujold -
If there's one reason for PABLO RODRÍGUEZ's downfall, it's fear, or more precisely, the absence of fear towards Pablo on the part of those around him. The essential quality of a leader - and I've known dozens of excellent ones - is the fear they project onto those around them. A leader who doesn't project fear becomes the victim of his team.
Pierre Péladeau explained this concept to me when I was a member of his close-knit team. He used to say to me, "The key to success is the fear you project! But what's more, you must never be afraid..."
In the end, not even the Elves, the mascots, and my personal advice could create fear in the enemies and save Pablo... Yet the team (elves, mascots, and I) was fearless in the face of adversity!
If there's one conclusion, it's that time will continue to pass even with Pablo gone, and that Christmas 2025 will soon be with us all. The other conclusion is that, had I been Pablo's close advisor, I'd be out of a job to welcome Santa!
Happy Holidays 2025!
