QUEBEC WRITERS AND INDIGO-CHAPTERS
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
According to the popular writer Isabelle Lafleche "We must appreciate the efforts of a bookseller as Indigo-Chapters to encourage the sale of books by local authors in the cities where their stores are located." Isabelle made this statement while she held a public signing session on the occasion of the publication of her new novel J'ADORE PARIS.
The book industry has undergone profound changes in marketing and one must actually admit that Chapters-Indigo is probably the one which have best reacted to the new situation in the books sector while promoting local initiatives. Congratulations to his owner Heather Reisman and good luck to Isabelle Lafleche for her new novel!

KATIA CHAPOUTIER - LOST IN JERUSALEM
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The new book by French journalist Katia Chapoutier is now available in Canadian bookstores. A book that you would think as a thriller novel because the beginning is very dramatic but the work is intended as a true chronic travel about Jerusalem. Katia Chapoutier knows how to write and her book reflects her talent.
LOST IN JERUSALEM (in French despite the English title...) is a true adventure story that will appeal to anyone who wants to learn more about Jerusalem and its culture.
Read it!

FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE - Conrad Black
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
I got a copy of the new Conrad Black's book: FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE which is just coming out in libraries. It's about the political history of the United States and it is very well written.
I will read it entirely and tell you more about it. But I can already tell you that Indigo-Chapters is giving the book a bestseller shelve in their stores. Also, like for the Dan Brown's book, Flight of the Eagle is sold at discount which is only offered for the top selling books.

MISS FOXY is the new mascot at LeStudio1.com
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
There is a new resident at Jean Drapeau Park of Montreal: MISS FOXY.
It is a young mother fox and her two little cubs. MISS FOXY is like a little queen of Jean Drapeau Park but she is sometimes snobbish and do not want to encounter everyone... I had the chance to please her and she gave me her company during a whole beautiful spring afternoon!
To thank MISS FOXY... we decided to invite her in LeStudio1.com team. Miss FOXY is now full member with LeStudio1.com and other mascots. We even created for her a FACEBOOK page and she already has many admirers.
Miss FOXY considers herself to be a journalist... of social events!

The Mayor of Montreal in 2013
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The position of mayor of Montreal is available...
Who will take it?
Few people are interested and several big names refuse to be in the run. We may end up with a mayor by default.
To defeat a candidate well known as a Denis Coderre, one would need another well known candidate as an Amir Khadir or a Gaétan Frigon.
Amir Khadir says he is not interested not any more than is Gaétan Frigon.
A 85 year old man was violently thrown to the ground by police because he wanted to ask a question about Denis Coderre during his press conference...

By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
Would you believe that Dan Brown wrote the last chapter of his new book INFERNO in Prince Edward Island? It's a bit of an enigma but he said it himself in the book and he even published a picture of the golf course in PEI on his Facebook.

GREGORY CHARLES - VINTAGE
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
Montreal artist Gregory Charles will present his new show in the Old Port of Montreal from May 29 until June 30. Gregory promises that VINTAGE will be innovative but which also draws attention is the new kind of theater marquee that was built specially for the singer in Germany. The theater could have been in the format like Cirque du Soleil but rather it is glass and metal almost resembling a permanent building. Everything is however temporary much like LEGO blocks. The concept is certainly interesting and we will have to wait and see the result.

LOBSTERS SPRING...
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
It's lobster season and if there is a surprise is the low price of this crustacean!
When I was a teenager in Gaspésie, lobster was put inaccessible due to its price. I remember me and my friends went to the beach to catch small crabs that we were then cooking on a beach fire. The situation has changed in 2013. The lobster has become economic while the crab is for gourmet only. The proof: lobster sells for $ 5.88 a kilo compared to grocery crab which sells more than $ 30 a kilo. Sole that we were fishing on the edge of the docks and then return to the sea because nobody wanted it now sells about $ 20 a kilo...
Conclusion: if you fancy eating lobster this spring, you have two options. You rent a boat and go to sea with a fisherman and your cage or you rather the grocery store. In the case of sea travel, the experience will be very exciting yet not very economical!
Good spring season 2013!

Gilles Vaillancourt - Mayor of Laval
By Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The former mayor of Laval Gilles Vaillancourt has fallen! He was arrested early this morning (Thursday, May 9, 2013).
Several journalists who learned for the police to act missed the shot even if they had arrived on site at 5am ...
I have known the mayor of Laval, in another life! In fact I have known him during two periods: the first when I was with Quebecor and we had a very important printing plant in Laval; the second was later when I worked for a few months to a subsidiary of the city, LAVAL TECHNOPOLE. Of all the politicians I have worked with in my career, Gilles Vailancourt was the most elusive. He was obviously a strong character and one could feel that. But if he was warm and charming during my Quebecor period, he was cold and authoritarian when I was with LAVAL TECHNOPOLE.
I did not stay long with the affiliate of Laval because as I lived in the city of Montreal, I quickly became as an infidel, if not in the eyes of the mayor, at least in the eyes of the CEO of the subsidiary in question.
In conclusion, we could say that Laval is like a church. The former mayor of Laval was the pastor (priest) of the city and its citizens were and still are the faithful because living in Laval approaches the religious act. If you like Laval, Laval it is deep within your soul and you believe. Personally, I was not a true believer...
Stay tuned!

JULIE PAYETTE IN MONTREAL
by Bernard Bujold (leStudio1.com) -
Julie Payette is the new Director of the Montreal Science Centre. She will took office on July 15. In a sense, she will replace Claude Benoit but without responsibility for land of the Old Port. An interesting idea!
Questioned on the subject, the direction of the Canada Lands Company said he is creating a new post. "The post of Director of the Science Center is a new job within the Canada Lands Company, while Payette will be no substitute to another person. Activities and land the Old Port will report to the future Vice President of the Canada Lands Company, and again, a new position. "
Among the criticisms of the management by the former director Claude Benoit, there was a trip to Florida to attend the launch of a shuttle into space with Julie Payette aboard... It is said that Julie was a good friend of the Centre for Science and of Madame Benoit...
That Julie will take control of a part of the old ship of Claude Benoit feels like a story in Star Trek! The story does not say whether the two commanders are still friends?
Stay tuned!

DANIEL LANGLOIS AND PRIVATE CLUB 357C
by Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) -
The businessman and philanthropist Daniel Langlois of Montreal does not like to be interviewed, but he did with LA PRESSE to express his anger on the involvement of the private Club 357C in the deliberations of the Commission Charbonneau on collusion in the construction industry in Quebec.
The story of Daniel Langlois is captivating and it would take a whole book to fully grasp it... Langlois is a trained film director who rather to make movies invented a gadget for animated 3D film. This is how Daniel Langlois himself describes his creation as a gadget in the sense that his invention did not save life but simply improve the tools of entertainment and fun movie.
That was in 1986 and three events led to success for its project:
1. Financial investments from a group of Quebec artists including Yvon Deschamps to start Softimage group;
2. The use of the gadget of Langlois by Spielberg in Jurassic Park;
3. The purchase by Bill Gates of Softimage for which Langlois was left with a portion of approximately $ 130 million of the $ 200 million sales.
Regarding Yvon Deschamps, he was part of a group of Quebec artists who already have the means of their risk. The singer from Beau Dommage was also in the group. Urban legend has it that an artist without much money wanted to invest $ 10,000 but to get there he would have to mortgage his house... Langlois refused because he wanted only investors who could afford to lose their investment. Langlois admits in hindsight that his creation might never have take off and the $ 200,000 of the group would have been classified simple loss.
Jurassic Park has been the trigger for the continuation and success.
The 357 Club of Montreal should have been a great international artist residency with a maximum of 357 members. The project had to be modified because it did not take the road on the financial plan and the establishment have finally and discreetly replaced the famous private club Le St-Denis on Sherbrooke Street which has experienced financial difficulties in 2009 and loss of memberships before to die a natural death and close its doors.
Daniel Langlois, who I had the opportunity to meet a few times to submit a development project of mine, must suffer deeply! He is an artist, generous but demanding and foremost discreet! Very discreet! To see his project 357C associated with the Charbonneau Commission is neither more nor less than death for his institution which is ultimately a private luxury restaurant.
According to me, he would have to wait five years before the damage is forgotten by the public, or simply change vocation and property name. But the restaurant definitely has the lead in the wing if not mortally wounded.
In conclusion, two elements:
1. The project I proposed to Daniel Langlois with my group of associates had not been selected...;
2. I've never been invited to the famous Club 357C...
