La Presse of Montreal wants to follow in the footsteps of some international publications, amongst them The Christian Science Monitor, and eliminate completely its print edition.
The news was kept secret by senior management of the newspaper but some media got wind of the negotiations between employers and employees of La Presse.
The newspaper La Presse refused to comment.
La Presse want to offer to its customers an electronic tablet and reduce the paper copies gradually and to eliminate them altogether by 2013.
If the experiment is successful, it is clear that other newspapers will follow this new business model.
