PABLO RODRIGUEZ AND HORSES... By Bernard Bujold -
Pablo Rodriguez's situation could be compared to a horse race!
If the challenge for bettors in a race is to predict the winning horse in advance, it's becoming increasingly difficult for political observers to predict who will be the next Premier of Quebec, in the race of October 5, 2026, and who will have a place in a luxury stable...
On paper, Pablo Rodriguez was expected to win easily ahead of the three other contenders, François Legault, Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon and Éric Duhaime.
But, as in sports racing, horses are often unpredictable...
If current Premier Legault projects the image of a tired old horse (at the bottom of the polls), Plamondon looks like an overly nervous horse (the referendum); Duhaime doesn't have the stature of a champion (two electoral failures), and the favorite Rodriguez sometimes seems to show shortcoming (he doesn't have the instinct to distrust those around him).
Pablo has taken appropriate action by eliminating Marwah Rizqy from the caucus and proposing to rehire Geneviève Hinse. But the race continues to move forward, the other contenders are close behind, and Pablo is not the frontrunner...
If I were Pablo's advisor, I'd be very happy with the gestures he's just made, but he mustn't give his opponents any space.
I repeat that he must take inspiration from Donald Trump and be authoritarian in his leadership. The other piece of advice, just as Donald does, is for Pablo to surround himself with people in whom he has total confidence and who admire him. In life, both political and private, loyalty is essential for survival.
For those who are interested, Donald loves a horse race and in particular, the winning horse...
