1000 days for the planet with the Sedna IV and Jean Lemire
The scientific explorer, Jean Lemire, invites us to join Sedna IV to sea for 1000 Days as an expedition member ... in a virtual way on the website of the trip.
According to Jean Lemire, this expedition will be exceptional:
"Imagine a journey, a very long trip ... Three years of adventure, tales of wonder and reflection on the state of our planet. 1,000 days to sail the seas and lands of this vast globe to find the extraordinary diversity of life and demonstrating its delicate balance. "
LeStudio1.com wishes "bon voyage" to Jean Lemire and the crew of the Sedna IV for this spectacular odyssey!

The Quebec singer Lara Brown
Jacques Racine, a former executive at Hydro-Quebec, is now communications consultant and he is convinced to have discovered the next Adele...
The artist is named Lara Brown, a singer redhead, and she will launch her second album in early March. The singer presents a show this Friday, March 2, 2012 at Place des Arts in Montreal.
You can watch a song from Lara, ZANZIBAR, on her website and learn more about the status of this young Quebec singer-songwriter.

Chantal Joly (1949-2012)
The radio and TV host Chantal Joly died in the Magdalen Islands (February 26, 2012).
Chantal Joly had many friends.
Bernard Bujold (LeStudio1.com) retains a treasured memory of the tv and radio host:
"I had known (briefly) Chantal Jolis. It was in 2002, during a supper. She had just bought a riding horse to his then life partner and she asked my advice. I found the eyes of Chantal beautiful and I told her so. She told me that I was a charmer but, she was pleased by the compliment. It was our only encounter ... "

Changes in the French CBC Montreal; Louis Lalande force the departure of Alain Saulnier and replaces him by Michel Cormier
There is a death spirit at Radio-Canada (Montreal) as the news director Alain Saulnier said that he had been forced to resign on 16 March. It seems he did not get along with the big boss Louis Lalande ...
This is the Acadian journalist Michel Cormier who will replace Saulnier. Cormier had wreaked havoc on his recent arrival in the general direction of the CBC Moncton moving star host Abbé Lanteigne from the regional newscast.
Now some Acadians are suggesting that the new director of Radio-Canada Moncton should be Abbé Lanteigne!
Many observers also said that the departure of the host star Christiane Charette one year ago was also motivated by the arrival of Lalande at the top radio job.
One could say that a storm is blowing through the CBC ... Stay tuned!

The new thriller from author Louise Penny -DÉFENSE DE TUER
With the approach of the March Break 2012, many parents will find themselves on vacation at the cottage or elsewhere in the country.
An excellent book to pack is the latest thriller by Louise Penny: DÉFENSE DE TUER (translation of the original - The Murder Stone). The action of the book takes place in the Eastern Townships at the Manoir Bellechasse (fictitious name inspired by the Manoir Hovey in North Hartley).
The author Penny has been very successful in describing the atmosphere of a country house hotel and we appreciate her descriptive narrative as much as the murder mystery discovered by the detective Armand Gamache ...
An excellent book to accompany the March break.

The problem of the homeless in Montreal
The problem of homelessness looks like a zombie horror film genre.
The police say to the homeless out of the subway and once in the street to move! But to where? Back on the subway?
In the horror film, the zombies end up being more numerous than the people around them and they invade the city! What will happen when the homeless (already more than 30.000 in Montreal) will outnumber the police? Will they call the army?

Robert Bourassa and his biographers...
Former Quebec Premier Robert Bourassa (1933-1996) is presently the subject of intense media debate surrounding the publication of a biographical portrait by the author Georges Hébert Germain.
There are in reality many serious biographies of Robert Bourassa, three recent: the books written by journalist Julien Brault in 2010, the reissue of the two books of Jean Francois Lisée (first published in 1994) and the newest version by the Germain.
If there is a conclusion to all those biographies, it's that this former Quebec prime minister is like Bill Clinton. Indeed, Bourassa has been criticized throughout his career but he is always landed on his feet. His greatest achievement, yet highly controversial at the time of its creation in 1971 is the famous hydroelectric project in James Bay. He had lost his 1976 election, but he returned for a second term as prime minister in 1985 after being exiled to the United States and Europe as a teacher. But despite the obstacles, Robert Bourassa has always survived. This is the true definition of this politician: A surviver!

Television programming of Sunday, February 19 will again be very competitive for the Quebec program TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE...
TV programming this Sunday, February 19 2012 will again be the most competitive and the biggest looser might be TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE....
The FOX network will broadcast at 8 pm the 500th issue of the cartoon The Simpsons and many stars will be personified and amongst them Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who will host his own character.
The CBS show The Good Wife will return at 9 pm, a very popular program that perfectly represents life in a prestigious law firm.
In Quebec, Julie Snyder will host in French from 7:30 p.m. Star Academy Gala and the featured guest is Patricia Kaas.
The biggest loser may be the show TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE with Guy A Lepage and Dany Turcotte. Since the Sunday's Super Bowl, their viewing figures have fallen below the million listeners and that will become tragic if the situation gets worse!
Have a good Sunday TV ...

Star Wars: Quebecor against CBC and Power Corporation - La Presse
The business and the media world are like a Star Wars where the objective is to conquer as much space as possible...
Quebecor and its leader, Pierre-Karl Peladeau won the war against CBC and they ruthlessly eliminated (figuratively...) their opponent Sylvain Lafrance from Radio-Canada. Star Wars is now in a second episode and Quebecor's enemy is Power Corporation - La Presse. It is clear that the war of the planets is more active than ever...
To be continued and may the best man win!

Very interesting article in today National Post (Saturday February 11, 2012).

The Iliad and the Arab Spring
The new book The Iliad (Homer) translated by Stephen Mitchell and currently in library is an excellent book that shows beyond doubt that the Arab Spring was inspired by this poem dating back over 2,700 years.
All European cultures have also been influenced by the Iliad and the Odyssey and the recent wars in North Africa are no exception.
The Iliad is a book to read or reread...
